Like many other people I’m having trouble at smaller roundabouts.
I follow the Highway Code advice of giving way to vehicles from my right. However, what does ‘give way’ actually mean? I have always taken it to mean if someone on my right has actually entered the roundabout I wait. Recently, I have entered roundabouts and someone from my right, who had not reached the roundabout when I set off, has come up behind me blowing the horn. Advice please. Read more
Hi,
I purchased a Peugeot 307 (from a private seller). It was after receipt of the car that I noticed the central locking did not work. I took the car into my local Peugeot garage, they kept the car in for one day and said that there was nothing that they could do???
I'm not even sure if I have the original key.... Read more
I've go a new filter but can't find where to put it......
Hi
Give your V.I.N at your main dealer - they will tell you the answer to your question...
Hi There,
I am in the market for a new (used) car and have been considering a Fiesta 1.4 tdci or a polo 1.4 Ctdi. However, due to lack of suitable models in our price range within our locality I think we need to extend our consideration.... Read more
I had an ex-Motability Ford Focus 1.6L petrol LX for a few years as my first car. It was really great. I managed to get some quite big furniture in it as the interior space is like a big bubble. Fords have kind of nice gear boxes too, and a squishy clutch so you don't get leg ache! Cheap parts, fair tax, low insurance. Winner.
I only traded it in to get a big engined motorway cruiser.
Good post .very good tips . thanks Read more
my engine malfunction light came on today so i called the aa , they found the car had no oil ( dip stick was completely dry ) we topped the oil up but it did not register. any ideas anyone ?? Read more
Is it the right dipstick? If the original has been lost, it could have been replaced with another one which is the wrong length. This is important as having too much oil is almost as bad as not having enough. The only real way to test it is to drain the sump and replace the oil with the amount specfied in the handbook. If it doesn't register on the dipstick then the dipstick is wrong-assuming it isn't pouring out somewhere!!
Hi Folks
I picked up a 2nd hand 55 plate Lancer Sport estate from an independent dealer at the weekend and all is fine apart from the fact that it has the incorrect spare wheel in the boot. Instead of a space saver(T125 70 D16) being in there,I found a full size steel wheel with tyre dimensions of 205 60 16. The standard alloys on the car take 195 50 R16 84V. Also the securing clamp holding the wheel to the boot floor is missing....
Is the garage obliged to supply the correct standard spec spare for me?
Thanks Read more
Great advice guys thanks :-)

Hmmm.....since posting my last message I've been told that it is probably the vacuum advance/retard mechanism. However, I was also told that the pipe coming out of the back of it should be connected to the inlet manifold, when clearly it is not.
The linkage from the throttle into the 'cone' is very light-weight (plastic?) - see the reddish-brown bar running from front to back in the picture. Also, it feels as if it is not connected to anything inside the cone, just free to move about. When the accelerator is depressed this bar moves into the cone. If it were cruise control, so it not be capable of being pulled in by the cone mechanism in order to increase the throttle when necessary?
I have just ordered a new motorcycle but it is unlikely to be availabe for collection before the MOT on my current bike expires. I don't particularly want to pay for a new MOT just for a few days use. I know that it is acceptable to take a vehicle to a test centre after the certificate has expired for the purpose of an MOT test but this dealer is around 25 miles from home. The dealer is fully aware that the cert will have expired so I am not trying to pull any flanker on him. Where do I stand on this one? Can I just book a test with the dealership or am I obliged to take the bike to a test centre close to home? Read more
Thanks everyone for your comments. I am aware of the prebook requirement so I'll go ahead and book with the selling dealer and sort the cost out with him. I ain't going to argue over the cost of a bike MOT.
Aircon stopped working just blowing warm air, anything i should be checking for before i take it to someone who's gonna want all my beer tokens to repair it.

I sympathise entirely with your predicament. I have been driving for 33 years and I have still not masterd the art of all roundabouts. My take on this if I understand you that if someone is very close to the roundabout approaching from the right or travelling at highish speed from the right, you slow down and give way.
Personally I am not so bothered by mini roundabouts, the large complex islands are the ones that get me. It seems that if you ever try to change lanes due to an error or similar people want to kill you where you sit ! However I would like to shake the hand of the traffic engineer who had the good idea of now putting dotted guide-lines on some very large and complex roundabouts, to help people navigate the system in a safer and more efficient way.
