I keep hearing from people i can do this but...am i right in thinking that if i have a ford focus 1.8tdi with 42,000 on the clock that i can get my fuel pump problem fixed for free under the recall process ???? if ford made the car with this common problem then its down to them to fix it for free yes ???? my car dont even start no more after it pulling from the fuel supply being blocked or what ever it is, all it did was pulling like someone was tapping the brake peddal while i was driving now it wont even start HELP ME PLEASE Read more

Tapping sensation on the brake pedal sounds like a ABS problem not a fuel pump failure or have not fully understood.

You may need to have that one overhauled or take your chances with the breakers.

I was ok in `94 when I rebuilt my old 1.6,was able to go to a turbo supplier and they had one on the shelf and did an exchange.Maybe there`s been a run on the 1.9`s....

If every component is ok as you say then you still have air in the system.

The clutch in my Golf slips in all gears but 1st and 2nd. It has had a new DMF and clutch.

The clutch was difficult to bleed out. (apparently) The pedal sometimes drops during the night and when it has the clutch does not slip. After a short time it begins to slip again and the peddle settles to its correct height.... Read more

Hi, I have a 2003 2.0 Mondeo 130bhp TDCi (automatic). The fuel pump is dying and the mechanic reckons a new one, to fit, will cost nearly about £1200!! Will a reconditioned one work, or will that still be coded to another vehicle?

There's no coding in these pumps as far as I know. You can get a second hand one on ebay for £150.

Shouldnt be more than 2 hours labour apparently.

Hi, just occassionly my car seems to lose braking power when trying to stop but the next time of trying it's perfectly all right. Only seem's to happen once in a while. But put's the jitters up you when it happens.

Also check there is no kink anywhere in the vacuum pipe to the servo.

If this is the belt that drives the power steering pump I would say undoubtedly yes.
