any - Traffic Problems on A2 in Kent Yesterday - Roly93

Did anyone get stuck on the A2 near Dartford yesterday ? There was a humungous traffic jam due to a shed lorry-load. It took me an hour to do 4 miles to the M25 and when I got there, there was a bunchy of HA guys just having a smoke by the centeral reservation, with the road still closed and no obstruction in sight !!

Typical police - close roads when there are issues then leave motorist to suffer the congestion without offering assistance - I heard about the incident on the radio but was nowhere near at the time.

Possible they were waiting for road to be inspected and declared safe, there needs to be a culture change in the transport industry and management of delays / issues so to provide swift and effective alternatives, with intelligent management of overloaded pinch points to reduce the impact / delays for all, an accident supremo, like a snow supremo - could be the same person!

Nonethelss, safety must be paramount, don't want to be causing further incidents.

I too was stuck took me 2 hours to get to Medway. I think what annoys me the most is the lack of consideration for all the others. Of course where ambulances etc are needed, I have the patience, but if it's just a broken down vehicle, or in this case splliage - CLEAR IT fast!

I saw the program the other night about London's roads and they said how many minutes it takes for the A2 to tail back to the M25 when the Blackwall tunnel is closed for incidents.

When it stopped for a few minutes it caused a 2 mile tailback.

Deal effectively with alleged lorry drivers who lose their loads or otherwise prove themselves totally unsuited to the job.
