Since Diesel cars fuel consumption is lower than some of the lower cubic Capacity Petrol Cars. People should consider changing to a newer Diesel Cars because they can put their savings towards a newer if they consider changing and maybe think they may have to wait for tide to turn. With Catalytic Converters and Lower Emissions it may be possible to save money on Road Tax on a smaller Car with lower Insurance and Road Tax Bills.I compared Fuel Consumption of Ford C-Max 1.6 petrol and Mercedez Benz C220 CDi .As far as Diesels are concerned smaller Diesels are still Good Value Read more

I was with LV who suddenly raised the insurance from 480 to 760 a year, no reason given other it is the area you live in, statically we have one of the safest area's (police). I am 78 drive under 5000 a year and did not have an accident for 52 years. Now with esure low again but still around 500 a year.
Al those stories of 200/300 a year do either not exist, are fantasies by the companies or special deals, in my opinion.
Hi everyone I'm back with another question
This morning king I was driving down a road and missed the first traffic light it was on red because I noticed the one across the road so I stopped but I was past the first light. My question is the camera facing the light isn't a normal red light camera looks like a traffic camera or CCTV. It looked like it flashed to me wasn't a huge flash could has been a other light. ... Just want to agree with Avant. I suggest looking at the Institute of Advanced Motorists.. I was very fortunate in having a retired police instructor giving my accompanied drives. I believe for various reasons not called lessons.
When you pass the test you can get cheaper insurance as a member. It is all reasonably priced....
Again, with diesels - a manufacturer is recommending an owner doing 25 miles a WEEK or 100+ a month just to guarantee it passively regenerates the DPF. So all that extra mpg they're getting over petrol engined cars is essentially wasted just to burn off some soot.
Just shows how ridiculous it is buying a diesel if you either don't do mostly motorway type driving (even on lower mileage, but then you get far less of a benefit from the better mpg than petrol if you do very low mileage) or over 20k miles (preferably 25k) pa and a regular (at least once a week if not more) amount on faster-moving roads.
Obviously if you tow a caravan regularly, then that's a different matter and you have to adjust accordingly, but if you only use it a couple of times a year, then surely it would be better to buy a much smaller, cheaper car suited to day-to-day needs and pay for an appropriate diesel hire car when you need to tow. I humbly suggest to AS of Warrington to find one of the very good MB indies in his area to perform the interim oil changes instead of Halfords.
Nothing at all against Halfords but when the time comes to sell the car on, a name known in MB circles on the service record will be a more welcome sight for many potential (quite fussy about such things) buyers than the other, plus genuine filters will more likely to be used instead of some generic make.
Agree wholeheartedly with more frequent servicing whoever does it.
How about a change along ins.lines:
4 years or 40000 miles whichever is soonest !

Pure government cave in to the capitalists running the country. It is money that talks if it was safety there would be hundreds more speed cameras in operation as no one keeps to teh 30 limit where I live but no one is interested because no one has been killed.
Whole in one could look at outgoing Toyota Verso 1.8 auto. Bulletproof engineering and 5 year warranty, good deals around. Read more
An HGV design that breaks down every few thousand miles due to a blocked DPF would soon be a pariah in HGV world, they'd be intouchable in weeks, lorry makes have a good image because they make a good reliable durable product, fashion branding doesn't feature to quite the extent it does in car world, if anything Swedish vehicles are generally held in far higher esteem than German lorry products.
Many operators now lease the vehicles for 3 to 5 years under a full R&M (repair and maintenance) contract, remember HGV's are usually inspected every 6 weeks on average to hard work, recovering broken down 44 tonners every few weeks with wreckers that cost up to £250,000, so recovery isn't going to be a £iver, because some ill thought out regeneration system (where the owner/driver is in the dark to what's happening) would see the roads reduced to gridlock and the lorry maker very quickly going out of business....
Advise please.
I needed to drop a Myhermes parcel so went to one of the convenience shops in my local town (don’t shop there). I arrived after 6pm, it was quite dark, the store and nearby take away and betting shop have a small free car park which was full except two spaces at the front. I stopped at one of them, dropped off the parcel and was out of the store in about 2 min. When I came out I saw a guy taking pictures of my car, and as I was just about to drive off he slapped a parking ticket on my window. It was for parking in the disabled bay and not displaying the blue badge. I understand I did wrong so the ticket is justified. I never park in the disabled bays so genuine mistake. It was dark, the area around the shop poorly lit, I clearly did not notice the disabled markings, was just glad to find a parking space. This guy must have been waiting for someone like me (why else would you be in a small free car park on the edge of town) as he had the ticket issued in less than 2 min of my arrival. However, he got both the colour and the make of the car wrong on the parking ticket (as I said, it was dark) just the number plate correct. Can I appeal on the grounds of his error or also that it was dark and hard to see the markings? Or shall I just suck it up and pay? Thank you for your advice.
The company that issued the ticket was Parking Ticketing Limited Read more
I would not waste your time on an appeal, its not points on your license, so i would jusy pay and move on. I got a ticket in Morrisons car park for being 1 minute over, it happens to us all.
Hi looking to buy an auto 1.6 tdi leon, anyone got one of these(105bhp) whats the average mpg of users and how reliable are these, depreciation do they hold value and is this a good choice for the 7k. ( i was thinking ceed too but i think the leon looks better and reliable in my mind)
Had both the Leon and the Ceed.
The Leon was a 2013 1.4 TSi manual, the Ceed was a 2010 1.6 CRDi manual. Leon averaged 45 mpg, Ceed 50 mpg so uless you are doing a million miles a year the extra cost will be meaningless. The extra fuel costs are offset by the fact the Leon was £30 a year VED, the Ceed £130....

I bought my new small diesel over 8 years ago as it suited my mobility problems as it's based on a small van, I do under 1,000 miles a year, it's cheap to tax and insure, onlt needs service every 2 years and does 40mpg on local trips to town, under 6,000 on the clock and like new so no way I will sell to get a tiny petrol that don't suit my needs and would cost more to service and tax at least, nor do I want any vehicle with DPF filter petrol or diesel, the CAT and EGR system is bad enough but a good thrashing before MOT helps that problem, it should see my life out I hope. It would cost a fortune to change for another as good.
