The only downside to the road manners is the turning circle which seems far worse than any focus/ golf / a3 I have previously owned....

All theoil is from overtightening the rocker cover, normally it is clean and fragrant under there :)
I have botched it with instant gasket (rtv black) until I see if Mr Allen Key makes an appearance ..
I'll get another cover before the MOT ... if it doesn't do a basil brush (boom, boom) before then

The pas on these is electric/hydraulic ,so it is important that the battery and alternator are working up to spec. When the system fails,reach down to the back of engine bay and wiggle the large connector with 2 fat wires ,on the steering pump.Very common for the connector to overheat and cause loss of steering assist.
I recently had the good fortune to visit JLR's heritage centre at Ryton for a tour of the facility. As well as restoring Mark 1 E Types, Land Rovers and Range Rovers to as-new condition, JLR were building 'new' cars from scratch. Six brand new E Types had already been built and sold. Nine brand new XKSS cars were in the process of being built. Eight of these had been sold (each costing 'well in excess of a million'), with the ninth being kept at the centre. We now hear that brand new Defenders are again being built... 150 grand anyone?
