I too have a new model Fiesta but I find the ride to be very good so not sure why DB should think otherwise this one replaced a 2013 model and I would say that the new one has a slightly better ride but still handles extreme well. Has he checked the tyre pressures perhaps these have been set much too high. Read more
I have a 2003 Nissan Micra for a couple of years. It passed its MOT recently with flying colours, no problems, no advisements. Yesterday, when coming back from the shops, the car suddenly jerked as if the brakes had come on and i was sure I saw some lights on the control panel flash for a second. I stopped the car for a minute but everything seemed normal and I carried on home with no other problems.
Today, though, was a different story. I drove to the shops fine but coming back all hell broke lose. Various warning lights appeared on and off on the control panel including ones for the ABS and power steering. The steering wheel began jerking to the left and the brakes stared to come on randomly like I experienced the day before. I was lucky there was a garage on the same road and I was able to drive slowly and get it parked there. By the time I got parked, only the ABS warning light was showing.
I have never had any trouble like this before with the car. Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this to happen so suddenly? The only thing I could think of is that we have had a lot of snow and ice recently and a lot had piled up on the car. Could water have got into the electrical system and caused this? Read more

That does not mean the car will be trouble free for another year. The MOT is a safety check only. Cars still need maintenance even if they have 12 months ticket.
Car is nearly 3 years old with 30K miles. It's the 1.6 DCI 130 bhp lump with selectable 4WD.
So a month left of warranty I decided to get a niggle sorted out.
When reversing uphill I get an awful groaning sort of noise which begins as the clutch engages and continues until I reduce throttle or press the clutch again.
Initially Nissan had the car in and changed an upper engine mount which did nothing as expected.
Now they are saying it is a characteristic of the car ???
Clutch is also smelling pretty bad, but apparently that's normal too ???
I'm tempted to take it to another dealership which is a 2 hour round trip for me which is fine if it can get sorted but so far the car has been in 3 times to the local dealer and I'm just getting fobbed off.
Anyone heard of this issue on the T32 X Trail Diesel before?

Son's girlfriend has a 55 plate Corsa 1.3 cdti. It sometimes loses power, more so when cold, uphill, or into strong wind!
The other day I had to put some fuel in, and noticed a big rush of air into the tank as I removed the filler cap. Wasnt too concerned about this as we had 2 Fiesta petrol cars which did this. But clearly embossed on the cap (I'm sure its OE), is VENTILATED!... Read more
Modern cars aren't meant to vent.
they use a carbon canister to "store" fumes that is then vented into the engine when conditions are correct....
I am considering changing my car this year to a BMW 320D ES but how might the new MOT changes affect this car. Read more
Control of diesel particulates (smoke & soot) has been a phased approach, starting with Euro 1.
Euro 4 was mandatory for new Type Approvals of diesels from January 2005, restricting the amount of PMs to 0.025 g/km. Some diesels needed a DPF to meet this standard....
Hi all,
I recently picked up a Golf TDI and I get this noise sometimes very faint but I can hear it when inside but not in the engine or if it is I can't hear it.. The sound clip is when my phone is sitting on the middle of the dash above the middle vents so you can hear it better than if I hold the phone. This noise is still present when the radio/fans are off
Only can hear it on idle and goes away with slight revs or the engine drowns out the sound

Interesting view point, but as we seem to know the origination of the fire - ie the vehicle itself, are that vehicle owners insurer not liable for the 1300 odd cars and the cost of the car park itself? Therefore the claim would be against that persons insurer and not subject to a claim on your own insurance and loosing your excess? Read more
Clutching at a fire extinguisher would have been more apposite surely. I know i'm glad my vehicle wasn't part of this freak show. It's bad enough making a claim under normal circumstances, one can only imagine the upset caused. I wonder how things would have gone if they'd all been EVs, all those lithium cells on fire. There's bound to have been a few in there, even hybrids, the fire department will be having a close look no doubt.
And how would that mileage etc be assessed without massive investment in roadside monitoring or some sort as well as bureaucracy created to administer the whole thing Charge the cars fairly. Why does a diesel Merc. pay £10 per annum when my Elise used for 1000 miles a year pays nearly £250 Make fairer and simpler. It is just an ineqitable mess currently Read more

Great minds, exactly what I thought. Some dealers do not perorm the Pre Delivery Inspections very well, if at all. One reason for not buying at registration changes, staff are rushed off their feet, so corners many be cut.
From memory transport blocks are bright yellow, so easy to spot looking under the car.
