There is already the ability to ban the companies from accessing DVLA data. However the BPA depends on the fees from the companies to maintain the lifestyle they have become accustomed to so it is unlikely they would want to put their own members out of business. The otehr body, the IPC are seriously out of control in how they operate, eventually someone in authority may realise this, but they won't ban anyone.

And now for something completely different: reported in Daily Mail and Evening Standard.
Someone is taking DVLA to court for loss of value on a car that they bought. It is, or was, a 1964 AC Cobra for which he paid £250k. Now the DVLA say it was built in 2002 which means it is only worth £100k.... Read more
Skidpan - I do wonder what the truth really is. So do I.
Plenty of written off classic cars have been rebuilt using different cars in the past...
Okay then, here's one for everyone out there in Honestjohnland... It's probably been done before but, hey ho, let's do it again. What one dozen cars would you have in your classic car collection? (assuming that money was no object) Go for it. As ostentatious as you like. Mine? Not so exotic...

Thats the one, BBD.
There was an edition of Wheeler Dealers on one of the minor TV channels the other day, and the subject of the programme was that very car....

I have been looking at the wheel configuration on the Leon ST (estate)
The SE Dynamic Technology is fitter with 17 " alloy whheels; the more expensive Technolgy is fitted with 16" wheels.... Read more
Thanks very much for the replies on that. I will follow the advice to look on the more specialised forum , regarding the wheel size in particular.
Test driving I suppose is the answer, but I would like to go forearmed!
Anyone had problems with this part? It regulates water temperature into the heat exchanger for the CVT gearbox. It has a pinhole which I can only gues is there to relieve excess pressure which is constantly leaking and firing a jet of water about 3-5 feet in the air when removed. I can guess that it may be seized inside and Nissan have quoted £800 to repair it. I can get a second hand spare for £70 but would prefer to repair it.
Any help greatly appreciated Read more
I just read the HJ review of the new Hyundai i30 Fastback, and was somewhat disappointed by its poor rating. I thought the review was well balanced, though perhaps missing one cruitial item, namely that Hyundai said the car had no rivals currently. I'll be generous in saying maybe they believe this to be the case in South Korea or the Far East more generally, as I can think of the following cars, similarly priced and specced that are very much rivals:
Sold in the EU (UK)... Read more
Just a quick update to correct a mistake I made - I have since noticed on reading another review of the car on a different website, and confirmed by a second look here at the photos, that the car does come with a 'hatchback' boot opening like the Skoda Rapid/SEAT Toledo, which is far more usable than the Mazda3 fastback and other 'proper' saloons, which don't. Still, it does mean that the car cannot be as stiff as proper saloons as the body isn't containuous across the upper rear of the car, which will, to a degree, compromise handling.
Nether the less, it goes up in my estimation a bit.
Like the title says, I'm looking for a good breakdown service, also relatively cheap. Friends recommended me startrescue.co.uk, however I'm open to suggestions Read more
If you need worldwide travel insurance and mobile phone insurance then Nationwides Flex Plus is good. Breakdown cover by Brittania. But the difference about Nationwide is that the recovery includes vans and caravans .
Most breakdown services don't cover faults to the caravan itself and will only recover it if it was attached to the car when the car broke down - not helpful if you're on holiday with the caravan pitched on a site - Caravan & Motorhome Club's Mayday, operated by Green Flag, will do "double-journey" and has fewer restrictions than Green Flag Direct.
Our 4month old Nissan Juke rs has cracked/bubbled paintwork on the center console. We have been fobbed off twice now by Nissan and both times have said “either a drink has spilt out of the cup holder or an air freshener has reacted with the paint. None of these are true, our air fresheners are on the air vents and we only have bottled drinks!! We personally witnessed the paint bubbling when returning to the car on a hot summers day, but now Nissan are trying to make us pay £400 for the repair of what is basically a part not fit for purpose. After booking the vehicle in twice to our dealership, we were told “ there used to be a paintwork issue on the center console but Nissan have sorted it” clearly not. The second time in escalating the claim, they said “it’s not really a common problem, we get about 4 a month in” no disrespect but I think that’s a lot for a small dealership. We are now left in limbo with nothing they can apparently do. Any help is sorting this issue out is appreciated. My next step is a letter direct to the CEO of Nissan and then according to trading standerds i should go on the forum, contact the people who have had this same issue (which is a lot of people) and create a file with all the people affected and present this to Nissan. Have you got any other ideas to get this repaired befor i go down this route? Nissan has the most appalling customer service, and im getting sick of them fobbing me off with excuses Read more
If Nissan are are anything like Mercedes at customer 'care' you are going to get nowhere. We ought to have a vote on which company gives least help to their customers....my vote Mercedes.
This is what happens when a car does the speed limit in Bognor, the driver of the hgv said it was too slow and tried in vain to get me to break the speed limit. Check out how far behind he is on the penultimate roundabout and how close he is at the next one. I say again bear in mind I was doing the speed limit of 50.

The HGV driver's behaviour may not be not ideal, though he doesn't seem that close behind, from the end of the first clip. Traffic always closes up a bit as it slows at a roundabout.
I'm not sure that your stopping and causing an obstruction to traffic (I assume that's what happened in between the clips) was a very clever thing to do, and not likely to calm the situation....
I was sent several heavy handed parking charge notices by the Parking Eye for a person and car that I knew nothing about at my address.
The way cars are registered at the DVLA is wide open to abuse, anybody can register anything anywhere, no checks.
Try and find out for yourself what cars are registered at your address and you get sent around in circles.
