Well £16995 isn't a bad entry level price for a petrol 4x4 is it? only the Jimney and the 4WD versions of the Panda come beneath the Renegade. OK the Dacia Duster also comes in under the Jeep's price but is not as well equipped nor does it have the kudos of the Jeep badge. Is a front wheel drive version also in the offing as well? Not bad but I'd rather have the Fiat 500X. I believe it's based on the same Jeep Renegade platform.

Hi,

I would be grateful if anyone can help. My nearside dipped headlight stopped working recently. Headlight unit had some condensation in it and when I unplugged contact that connects unit to car about a quarter tspn water came out. I dried out unit as much as poss with hairdrier but when I tried a working bulb and igniter from offside unit the bulb would not work. I was thinking that the problem may be the main connector to car but my main beam works fine. Would be really grateful if anyone has any ideas before I have to take to Volvo dealer. I was thinking of buying a second hand headlamp but if problem is with mains connector to car that wouldn't work?

Many thanks

Might be just a blown fuse. worth checking the manual and fusebox as each headlight might be fused separately. Considering what has happened if a new fuse resolves the issue then it miught have just overloaded due to water ingress.

The fuse is likely to be a blade type where you can see if it's blown if the link is broken, check it against a good one and should be easy to spot the difference

For some time my rear windscreen wiper worked with the wiper stopping from time to time then restarting but now it has stopped working altogether. When I turn it on there is a hum but the wiper does not move.

Can anyone tell me what the problem is likely to be? Read more

We have recently bought a Mercedes Vito 52reg 110 CDi van. The gear change is stiff and it has now started crunching when trying to select 1st or 3rd. The other gears at the moment are fine - just stiff. If you change into 1st and hold the gearstick firmly in place you feel it click into place but 3rd crunches all the time. It usually tries and kick the gear stick back out when selecting 1st or 3rd. We are wondering whether the gearbox oil is low or needs changing?? However we have no idea how to do this or what gearbox oil to use or if this is even the solution. Help please . . . . Read more

If you end up topping up or changing the gearbox oil make sure its the correct type. I had a V220Cdi, which is based on the Vito. The gear change was totally ruined when castrol advised the wrong type.

They ended up paying for it to be changed at a dealer....

I was driving and the car would not go into gear. There were no gears to select, and the only way was to force the gearstick into where the gears should be. The issue resolved itself after I parked the car and came back some time later, but now when the car is idle and the clutch is depressed, a rattling type noise can be heard.

My friend thinks it is a clutch release bearing problem. Does this sounds right? If I get a clutch replacement at a garage, does this include the release bearing part? or is that a seperate part?... Read more

Sounds as though it could be or perhaps the fingers on the pressure plate have worn through, in any case you are going to need the gearbox out, and yes, a clutch replacement includes the thrust bearing.
