Hi there I was wondering if I could get some advice from you, I have a saxo which is on an 03 plate and is 1,1L, This morning when I drove to work I noticed the car was abit sluggish when accleratring and the car wouldnt build up much speed, the engine management light also came on, My friend at work has a diagnostic testing kit and when he plugged it in it came up with an error message saying cylindar 4 misfiring, I was wondering what that means and if it is easy to fix? any help would be great
Many Thanks... Read more
A faulty fuel injector would be another possible cause. Failures are fairly common on these engines. Identify which cylinder is misfiring and then swap the injector from that cylinder to one of the others. If the misfire moves with the injector then you know it's at fault. If the misfire stays on the same cylinder then an injector is not the problem.

The glass taillight cover on the n/s back wing has been broken. Not the part on the tailgate. How do I remove and replace the glass, I can find how to replace bulbs but not the glass itsself. Any help would be gratefully appreciated as I would hate to pay for a garage to fix it. I can get the replacement glass for £35.00 Read more
You can't replace the glass,it is the complete lamp unit. The securing screws can be found behind the trims .in the load area.
I changed the car Sat 13th so had to tax it [6 months] which I did over the phone no problem....Well not really you see I have to renew the tax 1st June so I'm informed, well I am buying 6 months tax so why is my renewal date not the the 12th of June? Just to pi** of one forum member:
There's no road fund. It was abolished around 1926.
I've had my car for 5 months now and have never been happy that its running correctly. I occasionally have trouble starting the car, but my main gripe is it feels down on power and very sluggish particularly pulling away in traffic and around town.
P.s. There are no warning lights on... Read more
With no warning lights showing,it may be there are software updates available to resolve your issues.A friend has a similar car and was finding it difficult to drive smoothly with hesitation problems.Ford dealer said the ecu was at least 7 updates out of date and new software transformed the cars performance.
I'd second this. I had a Mondeo TDCI 140 for over 3 years, mine was a 2008 (built around 9 months after the car was introduced) and had no driveability issues, but the Ford forums had lots of posts about problems with earlier cars, especially the 1.8....
I am need of High performance parts for my subaru when it arrives, Exterior wise and such but I have no clue where to get. There we find a best choose website:

If the car has been in a bump, then it is possible the inertia/crash switch has been activated.
I have a vectra 1.8lt 2001 .The car and spanner light came on about 2 weeks ago as i was driving along the engine started to missfire then cut out all together. Rac came and did a diagnostic and got two codes saying immobiliser .car went to a garage but in the 3 days they had the car it did not cut out but they did change the ecu relay car seemed ok for a few weeks . Took the car out all fine parked up about 1 hour later got into car it started but the car and spanner light came on pushed down on throttle nothing there, turned car of and on three or 4 times then it started light went of and power to the throttle can back, drove home ok, then 2 days ago had a short drive all well parked up with engine running after 20 minuets car miss fired then cut out again, it started again with first turn of key but light came on again and no power to throttle. Shut of engine tried 3 or 4 times turning alarm on and of then car started no light power to throttle.I have been told it could be my engine ecu breaking down. Looking for advice please.
Has anybody got any comments as to the reliability of this model and to any snags that have occurred? Read more
Make sure you really want the diesel, as the 1.8 Valvematic petrol with the M Drive auto is a gem with 40mpg easily attainable
That's not bad for a car the size of the avensis. I imagine they are using similar technology to Honda's 1.8 I-VTEC where people report 45mpg on a cruise and 35-40 around town
worked a treat thank you
