Need a new battery for my car, was going to order one on line, but decided to measure the old one.

The old battery is longer but not as high and of higher ah rating then the ones that various web sites say is the battery type for my model of car... Read more

I agree with the above (1st reply) the battery MUST fit the tray compartment, the fittings which hold it dowm must be the same type & the terminal connections must be the in the same positions and same shape (eg square or round)

The replacement battery can be slightly narrower or slight shorter in height, but the performance of the battery is what is important....

I had some damage done to my offside wing mirror last night, could just have been the bad weather but something must have hit the mirror with force. The glass isn't broken , it will adjust up/down, to the left but NOT THE RIGHT. I wonder if something has just come adrift or is worn out/broken. Is there any way I can fix this? Thanks. Read more

Over the last few years in my experience HGV drivers seem to be more impatient than ever before in respect of lane changing with minimum gap and minimum notice. In addition tailgating and pulling out at roundabouts without right of way seem to be commonplace.

Without wishing to be negative there does seem to be a fair number of HGV drivers driving to a very poor standard not expected by someone that drives for a profession. Is this down to pressure of work? Perhaps furstration due to being set difficult delivery targets? Has anyone else noticed the declining standards? Read more

I'm going to disagree. I don't think HGV driving standards are any worse than they were, say 30 years ago. Also I don't think general driving standards have declined either. Yes, one sees some bad driving of all types of vehicles, but that's always been the case. There's more traffic now, so one probably sees more instances of bad driving, but proportionately is it any more?

Hi all,

Just a quick observation, yesterday my exhaust started to make my car sound like a Boy racers upon starting and revving. Popped into 2 large fast chains (next door to each other) for a quote, both inspected the ehaust and said a complete new system was needed and explained why etc.... Fast fit place 1 (the biggest!) = £324..... fast fit place 2 = £314 using a 20% voucher. Took it my local indie next to where I work, he had a look and explained it was true that it needed a complete system and why...... got him to fit it in 35 minutes..... Full Bosal exhaust system fitted = £135!!! 3 year warrenty ... Read more

I alwaus use the same father/son mechanic team. They're consistantly 30% cheaper than any of the big chains and never, ever do work that doesn't need doing.

Exactly the same here in West Yorkshire, the poor state of car lights very noticeable now the days are shorter. The M62 has, I think, had at least one accident a day for months (including the 'managed motorway' bits and, of course, in the 50 limits toward Manchester where work is in progress to convert that bit to 'managed).

Congestion is now permanent in many places, alteration of junctions/lights/road markings to "improve traffic flow" generally seems to make it worse.

Hi all, I'm just looking for a little advice please.

I hardly ever use my car recently but need it to be ready to use in case of emergencies. So, as you would expect, the battery has packed in. I'm about to fit a new one and to prevent damaging that one, I'd like to know your opinion on...... Read more
