Nissan Almera Tino - Exhaust - Price difference!!! - leef

Hi all,

Just a quick observation, yesterday my exhaust started to make my car sound like a Boy racers upon starting and revving. Popped into 2 large fast chains (next door to each other) for a quote, both inspected the ehaust and said a complete new system was needed and explained why etc.... Fast fit place 1 (the biggest!) = £324..... fast fit place 2 = £314 using a 20% voucher. Took it my local indie next to where I work, he had a look and explained it was true that it needed a complete system and why...... got him to fit it in 35 minutes..... Full Bosal exhaust system fitted = £135!!! 3 year warrenty

Are the big chains really making that much more off us! I know overheads and advertising etc, but thats a disgracful markup!.

It is a myth that these places have the best prices, All brought about by millions of pounds of advertising and easy to remember names that people link to the products they sell.

And there's only a couple of UK companies manufacturing after-market exhausts - who supply everyone in the UK

I alwaus use the same father/son mechanic team. They're consistantly 30% cheaper than any of the big chains and never, ever do work that doesn't need doing.
