Hello John,

I bought my i30 automatic, diesel, Premium Pack, in February 2013. The handbook says to have it serviced 30,000 miles or 24months, it has done 18,500 miles so I have booked it in for the service next week, as we will be on holiday in January/February, what else do you recommend I ask the garage to check/change?... Hello,

I own a VW Golf 1.9 Tdi and recently the Emission warnining light came on (PD Engine), I took it to a local garage after running the diagnostic they informed me that the injector is faulty as well as the glo valve and it will take £700 to repair (with original VW parts). Just wanted to know if the cost the garage stated is correct? it sounds alot to me... Read more

The steering doesn't self centre very well and isn't light. Dealer has replaced ball joint and checked geometry and has now decided that this is typical of the model. Would changing the tyres help, if so what would you suggest? Read more

I haven't had the oportunity yet to try another Splash. I have read numerous road test articles and none of them have referred to anything other than a light responsive steering.

I have only just aquired this car and failed to pick up the quirk in the steering during a test drive. The dealer is saying that it is typical which just doesn't seem right to me.

Well to me it doesn't look half bad it's not a bad idea really when you consider that due to it's relatively low performance insurance should be quite wallet friendly. I would think that actual buyers will not be in Hyundai's chosen sector of the market, but somewhat older people who value the company's well deserved reputation for quality and value but would something that appears much more sporty Read more

An enforcement officer visited me yesterday fromCollectica Ltd with court order and collected £615 as a fine for previous keeper faild to register to. I have never bought a car or sold any car. They sent me first letter on 13th October to pay £388 as an outstanding balance. Since I have no idea about this I asked some of my English friends and they advice me just to ignore as it is a scam letter to collect money as a fraud.now what to do I have no idea. I paid money because the officer threatened me if I do not pay within 5 minutes then he will remove all my belongings from room and he entered to the room as well. So I got scared and paid.please advice me. The letter indicates previous keeper faild to register doc to. .Toyota Qaris car. I have never bought a car in UK apart from a push bike. Read more

Dear Galileo, I sent letter to dvla on 10th by recorded delivery and still waiting for response. In your son's case how long it took for sorted. I also didn't hear anything from the court as well. Could you please tell me is there anything else I need to do.

This was around July; I think it took a couple of weeks from my posting letters (first class AND recorded delivery) to DVLA and the court for DVLA to remove the points and send a letter explaining they'd had incorrect info from the court.

The Citroen/Peugeot 1.4L Diesel engine has been used for some non motoring uses as it is easy to adapt due to its simple design. Are there any other diesel engines with a similar design.

Mechanical injection.
Normally aspirated.
Light weight. Alloy block and head.

Thanks for replies. Iron block won't work too heavy.

I will see what I can find out about the Isuzu engine. I have thought about mating a newer engine with older mechanical injection but then there are the problems with old indirect injection and new direct injection. Old heads have pre combustion chambers which I don't think newer engines would have.

More google.

Hi John

I hope you can help me with this problem in that when I got into my car the other day, put the key in the ignition and started the engine, I tried to move the gear stick out of park and into drive. The gear lever seemed to be stuck in park, it's only when I really pushed down on the brake pedal it moved.I checked all the gear positions before moving off and everything seemed fine.... Read more

I've never like the idea of a motorbike clutch in a car so a torque converter is a must for me as well - I always thought that CVT was even worse until I tried the Subaru CVT, which does have a torque converter, it was brilliant to drive so just need to wait to see it's reliablity. Since Subaru is part-owned by Toyota the TC/CVT transmission may appear there (perhaps it already has?)
