As AC doc says check a breather hose hasn't split or mis-aligned. I've plugged a hose onto a peg right next to the spigot once and couldn't figure out for ages why the thing wouldn't idle!
Other than that what hasn't been mentioned is try a pressure test.
My main dealer who services and MOT's my car recommends new tyres and has quoted £1007 to supply and fit four. This seems excessive compared with Quick Fit's on line quotations. What tyres would you recommend and is it safe to use Quick Fit? Read more
Hi,
Several of my friends have recently used a website named "tyresonthedrive.com" where they have input their car registration and been given a selection of tyres to choose from. You pick the tyres; arrange a date to have them fitted at your home.So very easy they say and they have been very satisfied with the price and service.

In the tv program Car SOS they converted a Triumph Herald from carbs to fuel injection. Does anyone know where I can buy this conversion, as I have a 1987 Opel Kadett 1.3 that I would like to convert to this system
Thank you for any help.

Thank you very much for your help and information. It is much appreciated.
I think I might just pass it by as it certainly is costly. :-)

Why are Hyundai offering two versions of the 1.2 litre petrol engine - namely a 75 PS and an 84 PS - surely there is nothing wrong with the original 78PS engine, which I have enjoyed for over 3 years, and gives bags of low speed torque and excellent fuel economy plus adequate motorway performance, even 'four up' all the way to 4500 rpm in top gear!? Read more
Looking back, and doing some research, I can see that my torquey 1.2 litre, with just 78ps (77 bhp) fitted in my '61 plate i20 Comfort (and previously in my sister-in-laws '59 plate i10) has received very positive reviews re impressive response, and brisk acceleration 'on the move' even in top gear, being more than a match for motorway driving at 70 mph with the engine turning at just about 3250 rpm in top gear. However it appears that the 78 ps version did not have any variable valve timing and so later models (2012 revision) of the i20 were fitted with an apparently more powerful 84ps engine which did have the CVVT feature added and arguably preserved most of the excellent engine flexibility and responsive acceleration under normal driving conditions whilst giving a more impressive headline figure of 84ps to compete with similar offerings from rival manufacturers of 1.2 litre super-minis. I do not know how similar the new i20's budget 75ps engine is to my trusty 78ps one or whether it has the CVVT removed to save a few pounds but it is of little matter since those on a budget are probably not too bothered by headline bhp figures, being content with the good fuel economy and a very much more refined ride in the new i20.
Well done. You can copy and paste. How much did BCA pay you to 'write' this? Should be ashamed. Read more
I saw this car on the M25, I have no idea what it is though. Anyone know?

Modern styling tends to convey the impression of speed by having a hunched-forward wedge shape, whereas in the 50's stylists went for the elegant 'sitting back' look, epitomised in these Bristol cars.
These reputedly had good aerodynamics - Bristol, of course, had made aeroplanes for years....
Please any help with this would be helpful. The car has begun to make a loud whining hallow noise and idles rough with the occasional stall out. Thanks

Sounds like a split breather hose. There is one that runs from the bottom of the inlet manifold to the front of the engine block. You can't see it from above.

Just seen this on Digital Spy!
