Hi
I've got an S reg vauxhall omega 2.5 thats been standing for about a year.
I put a gallon of petrol in as the tank was almost empty (light flashing on dash)
Charged the battery and started it up. It started first time. I let it run for a few minutes
then drove it down the road, where after about 50 yards, it cut out.
Now it wont start at all.. It turns over fine, but just wont kick into life.
I've managed to get it back on the drive using the starter

I have a weired problem with my ford focus diesel. It is loosing power on acceleration. If I push the accelerator very very gently, the car does speeds up. But if I am, like overtaking, the car shudders, looses power and I can see the RPM needle erratic movement. Last night it did the same on the motorway and I had to pull on the hard shoulder. This is the one with an injection pump rathere than common rail? If so sounds as though you have air getting into the fuel system.
As you say if it was the clutch the revs would go up without any increase in speed, but the symptoms could point to the clutch. Try letting the clutch in with the handbrake on, if its OK it should stall the engine - if it doesn't its the clutch.
Hi I have just noticed a leak on the steering rack and my power steering fluid is low. The leak is where the track rods go into the steering rack where the gaiter cover is. Does anyone know if there is a seal in there or would it be a new steering rack. I have tried talking to ford garage yet all they say is bring it in and we will look. Hopefully some one can help with this. The car is getting on yet flies through most mots so would love to keep it on the road. Many thanks. Read more

My Xtrail has 114000 on the clock serviced regularly and has suddenly developed an idling issue. When stopped the car vibrates - but as soon as it moves forward (either out of gear or in gear) the vibration stops. One diagnosis from a diesel specialist said it was the flywheel and my regular garage thinks it's the timing chain. Both will cost close to £900 to repair! Can't they increase the idle speed?
I have a weird problem with my 09 plate 1.4 Ford Fusion. With the ignition.engine off and car locked, I get an intermittent, loud crackle through the stereo's speakers. The stereo is the factory fitted unit. Stereo works fine when driving. Is this a common/known problem? Read more
I wouldn't think so, probably a fault with the stereo.

You should look at the specs of the batteries your thinking of buying. Just because a battery has the right code does not mean it is equal to another of the same code. Look at the Ah rate and also the CCA rate.
Better to fit a standard size high quality battery than an oversized poor quality unit, which might not have any better performance in reality.

I am not the only one with this noise, there are many, many owners with 1.4, 1.8 TSI engines (UK, Germany, Italy, France, Poland, Romania, Czech Republic) with this problem. I know two of them who changed the starter and the noise is still there. So, the noise source is not established.

Yep, dirty battery terminals or a faulty starter. Try connecting a wire from the battery+ to the small terminal on the starter, if the motor is OK it should turn, if it still only clicks it probably the solenoid which really means a new starter.
Hi All, I have a Volkswagen Polo 2000 and this morning as I was driving, the power just died and the car would not start but I left it for a while and when I tried to start it again the engin turns over but it doesnt start but its as if there is a backfire but from the engine compartment. Not much to work on here.I think you need more investigation.A backfire noise could indicate a broken cambelt.Get it checked.
Hi again, I forgot to say that one of the brake light bulbs was blown and I replaced it but the EPC light still came on...
i did a speed awareness course in may 2013,and i just been pulled for overtaking a learner driver,(i wasnt speeding as the learner was only doing 18mph) im being done for driving without reasonable consideration,would a course be offered or are the on the same time scale as speed awareness (3 yr)? or is it a different course? As I see it if there was a driver awareness course on offer I think the local fuzz would have made the offer. It appears to me that the two remaining alternatives are you will receive a fixed penalty notice with the appropriate fine and points or you will receive a summons to appear before the beak if the prosecution think the offence is serious enough that a fixed penalty is inappropriate. Suggest you wait for the postman and hope for the best.
