I bought a new Santa fe new generation 18 months ago. I had a tow bar fitted by my local Hyundai dealership and have had nothing but problems with it and the car. It started with creaking on the first time out with my caravan and despite 3 further tow bars being fitted by a combination of Chelmsford Hyundai and Witter the creaking is still there albeit not as bad as it was initially. I know owners of similar vehicles also have this problem and would like to share experiences and understand if anyone has had their problem fixed (and how). As I paid the deposit for the car on credit card I'm considering resorting to the Consumer Credit Act for a refund but not sure if the cost of the car is above the limit for this. Again would like to hear from anyone with experience of the CCA. Read more

My santa fe has also started the tow bar creaking, its driving my copilot mad and hence has to be sorted. Bouncing the back of the car = no noise, stand on the tow bar=creak and groan. Its definatley not caused by the spare wheel as I removed that to test if it was the cause. The car has self leveling suspension so there are no rear end sagging issues and it seems a good tow car apart from the megga creak. I will be investigating further in the next few days.

If you let VIP car sales sell your car on commission make sure you get the finances sorted out . It took 6 weeks & 3 bounced chqeues before I eventually got my cash ! Read more

Always a risk selling this way. Mate of mine sold his about 15 years ago, car sold and the following day garage went into receivership. Never saw a penny, lost £15000 approx.

At least you got your money but others should avoid any garage offering this service.

Hi.

I think this is the right forum as it is directly related to cars. I just read an article on the dailymail about cooking on car engines and this young man has written a book about it. The pictures look very good but I just can't beleive that it works. www.carbecue.co.uk Has anyone tried it? Does it work? Does it taste nice? He says that it is a better alternative to eating in service stations. I've just bought one purely out of interest and then I think I'll give it to my dad for Christmas if it is a load of rubbish!! ... Read more

Was it nice? Very interesting

Yes I enjoyed it,and if I had a coast trip to collect parts I bought fresh fish and cooked it though that got a bit stuck to the foil....

Im looking at getting a 1 series 118D (2010-11) with a budget of up to 10k with around 50,000 miles.

Are there any known issues with these models. I've read about the timing chain problem but I belive this is only on models up to 2009 so am I okay if I get a 2010/11 model? Is there anything else I should look out for? ... Read more

To compare specifications the easiest thing to do is to download a brochure from the BMW website.

Heated windcreen light has been on constantly for a few months but the heated windscreen isn't actually on, I can't turn it on or off - the light just stays on.

It is more than likely that there is a fault with the switch here. Replace it and see if the problem goes away.

Very unusual to see someone bought a heated windscreen on the Ka.

I've done this myself. As Mad says, make sure the area around the nipple is scrupilously clean before complete removal. I usually wire brush, followed by plenty of brake cleaner. I use a small screw to plug the hole usually without clamping the pipe - any fluid flow out of the caliper should prevent any dirt going the other way.

Can I dump my 18" low profile tyres which have done barely 12000 miles and which need replacing already for 16" alloy wheels and 16" tyres, and if so would the car have to be recalibrated for the smaller wheels? Read more

Ford put the available wheel and tyre size choice for that model, and recommended tyre pressure for each choice, both in the glovebox handbook and on a small plate at the bottom of the passenger door pillar. Perhaps Peugeot may have such a plate. (I didn't notice mine until I'd been driving the car for six years).

Hi,

I've got a MK1 Focus (1.6 - 2002) and have got an issue with it at the moment.

The speedo would be stuck at 0 and the car would cut out when coming to lights/slowing down.

Read around online and the VSS seemed to be the issue for people.

I've now got a new VSS and had it replaced but car still cuts out. (Speedo now working fine).

Dug a bit deeper on several forums and the next port of call seems to be the ICV that could need a clean/replace?

Have you checked the leads and earth from the battery? Even if it's new a dodgy connection from it will cause problems!
