1997 ford galaxy - Leak on the steering rack - littleolliez

Hi I have just noticed a leak on the steering rack and my power steering fluid is low. The leak is where the track rods go into the steering rack where the gaiter cover is. Does anyone know if there is a seal in there or would it be a new steering rack. I have tried talking to ford garage yet all they say is bring it in and we will look. Hopefully some one can help with this. The car is getting on yet flies through most mots so would love to keep it on the road. Many thanks.

Very likely to be the seals in the rack have worn.Best bet is an exchange/reman rack,but not from Ford dealer.There are plenty aftermarket suppliers of recon racks.

Many thanks for the info i have seen there is stuff to stop leaks on the steering wuld it be worth a try first of all. With xmas coming up could do with all the pennies for that..lol

The other is a bodge, which might last 2 weeks or 2 years.
