My passenger opened the car passenger door at certain position because of loading many luggages and then the wind caused the car passenger door to swung open as far as it can go and then bounced back.
I have tested by opening and closing the car door and it seems like normal.... Read more

I have had issues selecting reverse gear, as well as the car actually jumping out of gear while reversing. I have had adjustments and lubrication that eased selection, but did not stop the jumping out of gear. Then the clutch and slave cylinder was replaced as abnormal clutch wear found. However, it still jumps out of gear, and since clutch replaced reverse gear sometimes does not engage when gear stick pulled as far as it will go, car does not move back and there is a quiet grinding noise.
I am told I need to wait 4 to 5 seconds after moving forward, before selecting reverse gear. Surely that is nonsense? Read more

There is an article in the Telegraph today about car sales.
The picture in the version of the article that I saw had a photograph of the German Chancellor. Does anyone remember the advertisement for a Jaguar that had a model girl wearing a bikini and oil trying to stay on the bonnet for a photo-shoot ? The car and the model girl separately were superb, but the addition of body oil spoiled things. The photographer eventually gave up. ... Read more

Hi,
My Fiat Punto was parked outside my uncle's house on the side of a quiet road, with other cars parked behind mine. Parking there was allowed and I parked sensibily with a decent gap between me and the car parked behind and handbrake on. Whilst away from my car, a driver in a Subaru hit my car head on at a high speed making an impact big enough to push my car backwards into the parked car behind. The driver of the Subaru immediately fled the scene and the car he was driving was uninsured. I'm making a claim with the Motor Insurers Bureau and have accepted that I may well recieve nothing in compensation.... Read more
Very assertive but you're wrong about the MIB, they will pay for property damage in cases such as the posters.
After lots of Vw's one after the other I wanted a small automatic to replace my manual Polo. I gave up on VW autos when DSG came in. Also in the last few years the dealerships have gone downhill [ apart from mega chrome and glass showrooms of course]
I have now ordered a Hyundai i10 Auto. This has an 'old fashioned 4 speed traditional box. If you want a small auto test drive one ! I know it is inefficient compared with an automated manual but wow what a smooth and refined drive !... Read more
And another factor is that if you don't leave a manual car in gear when you park on a slope, you might accidentally have failed to pull up the handbrake far enough - or, if you are afflicted with an electronic parking brake, it might suddenly fail.
Thanks for the original post, Chewer1 - useful to know that the i10 auto has a conventional auto box, goven the uncertainty over the longevity of the VW Group DSG. From time to time people come on here asking about small automatics, so the i10 looks likemone to recommend....
Hi
My son has recently been added to my car insurance and two weeks ago he parked in a hotel car park to go to a local centre and didnt check the signs (easily visible when I went to check and loads of them and well lit). Parking Eye signs are everywhere stating parking is for hotel clientele only and if not you will be fined £100 and there are cameras recording activity. So, guess what we received a £100 (discounted to £60 if paid in 14 days) Parking Charge Notice. I have read loads of threads and discussions on this for people who overstayed in car parks but none for where there are signs for absolultely no parking and am not sure whether to pay up/appeal or ignore. The worst part is that my son has now told me he parked there again last weekend before the ticket came so another one is on the way!... Read more
If you didn't use the store whose land you parked on, why do you expect it to be any different?
What would you do if someone parked in your garden and walked into the local pub ?...

Nah, It's the other one who reversed down a kerb and destroyed the suspension on his Ultra fast Ford Fiesta sports car.
