There's little need to scale down to a Fiests as the practical differences in running costs are pretty arguable really.

Unless you prefer a smaller car of course. I've never wanted a Focus sized car.

Sadly my experience with main dealers tend to match that of the article. They will be friendly and cooperative until a warrnty claim is involved, then you're in a battle.

My most recent main dealer disappointment was with toyota but its not limited to them. Ironically a good few years back I had good customer services from a Ford dealership - which has changed hands. Good customer service doesn't pay the bills for all those coffee machines/playstations and plasmas in the waiting area!

Been out in my very sporty Fiesta Zetec S today. Its been very windy and being autumn leaves are starting to fall form the trees.

These leaves have been hitting the car and making quite a noise. I am worried that they will be damaging the bodywork. It looks OK but there could well be damage that I cannot see.... Read more

Irony wasted here.

Mind you on the subject of leaves, pine needles are a real pita, they get into every nook and crannie and block drains.

Hi all,

Have a problem with the front wipers. On two occasions now they have come on and wont go off. I left them overnite and the next day they were fine ... now they wont go off again. The car is on the parked and doesn't have road tax so i cant drive it ... i thought it might be something to do with the battery "as its obviously going to die if not being driven". Any advice would be appreciated :) Read more

Hi, recently treated my car to a service and it even passed its MOT but ever since it has had a loss of power, kangarooing along the road and stalling at de-acceleration. I have taken it back to a local garage and nothing came up on the computer or occured during the test drive. Taking the car back the problem persisted and after checking online we thought it might be the cam sensor and crank sensor so returned to the garage and had these replaced. The car did seem to run much better afterwards but within a day it was back to jerky movements as if fuel starvation and again stalling when slowing down. The garage have given up thinking of what it could be as it's so difficult to detect when it doesn't do it all the time and they've not come across it before. I notice reports of similar problems in 2010/2011 on your site and wonder if you have any solutions you can suggest or if it's time for a trade in. Many thanks - getting desparate and fed up of people honking at me and my erratic car! Read more

I have ml 270 cdi,2000.Last Sunday the car cuts off three times before I could reach home.I waited for approx 15 minutes in each cut off,and later started on normally.I realised that the pipe from fuel to the pump was bent and probably suffocated the enjectors.I have corrected that, but the problem of the air bubble is still there. This morning I started it,kicked on well.Switched off the engine and I moved to the engine bay and looked directly in the fuel filter.I could see the air bubble introduced coming from the fuel filter.I have fitted the new o rings in the fuel line.

Can anyone help! The car does start well, but the concern is the air bubble.Or is it normal that the bubble should be there?... Read more

Hi elekie!

I think I found out the problem, the pipe from the fuel filter to the primary pump was shorh and could not fit airtightly to the pump as well as to the filter. When I ordered it I 've seen the difference between the two pipes. Now that I have replaced it the car is fine, although there is a very tiny bubble in the pipe.Is it a must that there should be an air bubble? Now I need to replace the turbo and put a recorn one,do I have to take intercooler for clean up?Laison...

So my recently acquired old Merc A Class is in very desperate need of a thorough service, years of use as a staff shuttle by a local firm has left the oil in an abysmal state. The filler neck is full of the inevitable white gunge, worse than I've ever seen and to the point where any fresh oil takes a very long time indeed to drain past it into the block. What's the best way of removing said gunge during an oil change? My thoughts were just to put several doses of engine flush through, but will that do the trick? Read more

I'm impressed it lasted long enough without any breakdowns to rack up enough miles to do that!

I recently added to a "Battery Charger" topic in "Technical".

Is it OK with Avant if I ask anyone with advice to have a look at the post (18th Oct. @ 1834hrs) and offer any advice to me. Thanks. Read more

Thank you, Avant.
