I'm pretty used to our cruddy roads and poor maintenance but the roadworks on the western bypass (Gateshead) were an eye-opener.
The road surface is disgraceful - a trench runs along where they hacked out the old edge strip, which means you're constantly fighting the steering (and we're talking about 30mph speeds) all the time, or trying to keep your wheel out of the rut by driving very close to the outer edge.... Read more

Is there any one who can help I have a peurgot 306 lx 1.6 automatic I have located what I believe to be the central locking box under the dash problem is I cant find the unlock and lock wires I have searched various forums but none of the codes for the wires match mine am I looking in wrong place I am trying to install a alarm and remote central locking as the key I have has no fob for mine please help me Read more
Sounds to me that you have central locking on the car, but not remote locking and wish to add the alarm for the additional function of remote operation, am I right ?
Looking at the picture of the CDL unit in dadbif's link, I'd say it's a case of probing each wire in turn with a circuit tester or multi meter whilst operating the lock / unlock button on the door. So if you get a voltage / light when you press the lock button, that's where you need to tap into for the lock signal from the alarm. The same goes for the unlock signal when it's operated....
I've been using semi-synthetic 10w40 to top up my oil every few hundred miles over the past year. I now know I should have been using 5w30 fully synthetic. I have just started to get the following fault codes:-
P0036 - Generic H02S Bank 1 Sen 2 Heater Circuit... Read more
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm going to take a look at the sensor this afternoon and will report back here once I know more. Cheers!

Certainly, within the last four years both rear springs on my Smart and my BMW 320 have snapped. This is a new phenomenon to me. In my 45 years of car ownership, I've never had it happen before! I assumed that it was the quality of the springs. Read more
Three months ago replaced the two front springs on my 2007 Mercedes E229 Cdi after one of them broke; car has only done 50k miles and is driven carefully, especially over speed bumps. One month ago the radiator started leaking from a fractured seal; could it be that these two phenomenon are related? Still love the car though and cheaper to get repaired than buy new (up to a point).
Two factory recalls for faulty door locks, can't adjust headlamp rake (it's automatic adjust based on car load) which makes mid range viewing very poor. Dashboard satnav speed limit occasionally differs to that on the satnav itself therefore don't trust it. The biggest let down, practically theft, is the MPG. On a very steady run to Scotland doing approximately 60mph, the best I could achieve was 55.6mpg rather than 72, average combined is 41.5. I've been reading a report by the AA, and the average shortfall from government figures has now decreased from 16% to a shocking 40%!!!! I am a careful driver, car is a 150bhp 2ltr 308 GT line Automatic.
Grips road well but feels every bump. Seats very comfortable.
All in all a good looking car but total rubbish mpg, which given the fact that the MPG was a main purchasing factor, makes me feel that Peugeot should be investigated in a similar manner to VW. Read more

My elderly mother has asked me to sell her 2001 (51 reg) 206 1.1 LX.
She bought it from new and although she has had it serviced and valeted regularly she has no receipts apart from one a year ago, which was a full service by a local garage.... Read more
You might get a little more for it if you can find the stamped service book, even if not the receipts. Stick it on Autotrader for about £950 and someone may fall for the low mileage.
I'd say your daughter's better off with the (newer) Aygo: components wear out with time as much as mileage and there could be just as many expensive problems at MoT time with the 206....
