I am looking to purchase a 1 year old Ford S-Max 1.6 Eco Boost, haven’t decided on trim level yet. It will be mainly driven around town or short less than 10 mile motorway journeys, hence petrol over diesel.
I am looking for your experiences with this model and advice if you have any. Reliability and real life mpg figures would be good around town with little traffic and longer journeys.... Read more
We looked at the new Kia Carrens, I liked it but wife was not keen, she is now getting the new QashQai, not seven seats but we both like it.
I need to replace my car next year so will check out the Kia again, may make a good second hand buy with the 7 year warranty....
Afew days ago i noticed my heater fan was not working checked the fuses and all seemed ok, whilst trying to find out what to do next the heater started working again, and then promptly stopped again, after further investigation my front/ rear washers as well as the rear wiper also are not working, they are all now working intermitantly, i have not checked anything else, i am just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction on what to do next, thanks in advance Read more
I think you will find this to be a problem with the electrical load relay. It is clipped into the relay board located to the right of steering column ,behind lower dash panel and a plastic cover. There are a few relays on the circuit board and the one that is suspect is in the bottom right hand corner and usually has the number 460 printed on the top.

I've seen cam belt kits with and without the stud for the idler bearing. Is it advisable to replace the stud or leave alone?... Read more
My thoughts on cambelts are always use the best quality and most complete kit you can get or afford.
If you don't want to go the genuine parts route, use something like Gates or Conti kit. With the pump, make sure its got a metal impeller wheel as the ones with a plastic wheel can crack on the spindle with obvious results. Ironically, the genuine VW pumps have a plastic impeller so usually, an aftermarket pump is better....
I meant is having to reverse and then moving in 1st gear about 10 times like trying to park in a space but in my circumstances I had to let other motorists pass as only 1 car could squeeze through then finding a space to park which took me about 3-4 times until I parked perfectly. In terms the use of clutch control and selecting reverse then 1st to move forward.

hi i have a citroen c5 2002 and it goes into limp mode when going up a hill, i called the aa and they undid one of the pipes that go to the egr and sprayed some sort of oil into it to try and free the valve inside, was this the proper thing to do or should i have it changed because it still happens please help. If you do have an EGR problem then it won't be limited to the valve itself. If the valve is coked with carbon then so will be the rest of the air intake downstream of it. The whole lot will require cleaning. The EGR valve opens and closes, and so long as it does there can't be much more wrong with it.
Hello Guys,
I wonder if you could help me - we have a 2.0 57 plate vivaro - which has been starting fine but the problem comes when you are trying to accerlarate away from say a standing start at a junction for example - if you push the accerlator slowly and gradually its not too bad, but when you go to oush the accerlator normally it is so sluggish. We have changed the MAF sensor - a friend has one of the diagnositc readers and it is coming up P0303 which I believe means a misfire on cylinder 3? Does this sound like an injector issue or could it be something else? My local mechanic will not remove the injectors as apparetnly they are common to snap so I do have an appointment with the main dealer on friday morning for a proper diagnostic test - but I just wondered if there wa anything else I could try before taking it to the main dealer, I am being told approx 500-600 to replace one injector - if it is that. ... Dear Gods of Motoring,
I've ended up in a very stupid predicament. I was rear ended back in February, so filed a claim against TP through my insurance. They allocated a garage etc, but I just did not have a chance to give up the car for the few days they would require to do the repair.... Read more
Oh yes, most definitely. The only difference in those quotes I got was the NCB...it was still declared.
I'm looking to replace my 2008 Mondeo which I have been generally pleased with. I'm looking for another large hatchback and have been thinking of going a bit upmarket if I can get what I want..
But, most of the premium brand cars are saloons not hatchbacks (my Mondeo has been used to move my children's furniture on several occassions) and I don't really want an estate. Also, some of the low swept designs are tight on headroom in the back. I did also look at the Vauxhall Insignia but wouldn't have wanted to sit in the rear with the driver's seat where I have it (I am 5'10", hardly a giant). ... Read more
If you prefer an automatic then it may pay to start your search from that angle to decide whether or not the type of gearbox is to your liking. Although most manufacturers describe their auto gearboxes as automatics they vary in type and operation. For instance if you want a conventional torque convertor auto then your choice in large hatchback, saloon or estate is limited these days.
I parked my car in a privately owned car park outside a friends flat whom I was visiting for the weekend back in august, He does not drive but has a parking space that comes with the flat so I used his space for the duration of my stay without a permit as he has never been issued one (not having a car he has no need). Ten days later I receive a PCN demanding £60 for parking without a permit which I initially appealed, and lost, on the grounds that my friend doesn't have a permit and I used his space at all times, I have since paid this fine. To my horror, yesterday I received ANOTHER PCN dated the day afterwards! The first is dated 18:14 16/08/2014 and the second 09:15 17/08/2014.
A complication is that I did not receive the PCN on the car for either, the first because I apparently drove off before they could affix the notice so this was received through the post. The second however I neither received a PCN on the car or through the post, just a letter demanding money.
Is there some legislation to do with the two month time gap in receiving this second notice?
If not, is there anything I can to do with not actually receiving a PCN for the second "offence".... Read more
Time for palcouk to fess up and let us know which private parking company they work for.
