Never understood why anyone wants such a complex, pricey, unreliable and now, insecure alternative to the traditional key.

Electronic ignition was, however, driven by the requirement to fit catalytic convertors as ordered by the Eurocrats in Brussels.

Those evil Eurocrats and there awful electronic ignitions!

I saw these a while back on auto trader when I was looking for a luxury car. The prices were unbelievable so had to be a scam. I would just alert AT who would remove the ad. It must be costing the scammers so much to advertise. But you have to put some blame on AT as the ads are written in the same manner and the contact email address is very similar to their other posts. And the fact I and others have highlighted them as scams. You would have to be a dimwit to fall for it, but I expect some do as they wouldn't keep on doing it. Read more

Many thanks for taking the trouble to post that, Steveieb.

I'll keep this short and simple.

Parked my car at road side, near side to kerb. Got out, closed driver's door, opened rear offside door and leaned in over back seat getting things together to take into my house.... Read more

When insurance companies are involves - yes, quite easily.

But thanks very much for coming back and letting us know. Good decision by Tesco's boss: the costs are peanuts to them but the good publicity, through you telling your friends and posting on here, makes it well worth while....

Have really been racking up the miles this month, and after seeing one too many pieces of dangerous driving while I bimbled along behind the lorries in economy driving mode, have ordered a Transcend 16GB DrivePro 200.

Will update with a small review once it's installed.... Read more

Actually a better fitment for self preservation, and offering a good public service to boot, would be to get your car's front sidelights equipped as per James Bond's DB5.

All the cameras in the world won't make a scrap of difference to how someone who's still crabbing along on all fours scowling from beneath a jutting brow behaves, the country has been going down the toilet for years in many ways (and we're all to blame for allowing those in power to ensure it continues by voting for them regardless), all you can do is learn to spot them and avoid them before they have a chance to do their normal thing....

How did he get drawn in ? Easy :

It's a bargain. If you don't get it, someone else will. Human nature is greedy. If you could buy a car for £15k, or if a desperate seller will sell you one for £10k, then you'll go a fair bit further to save that sort of money. If the putative 'seller' will jump through all sorts of hoops to 'prove' themselves, then that makes it just a little bit easier for you - after all, it's not going to be a risk, if they'll do all that lot....

HJ recommends Warranty Direct for this but Click4Warranty shows more attractive quotes.

Does anyone have any opinions/experience of using either of these? Read more

Watching my local indy tackle a change of starter motor on a Cayenne, I wonder if this ranks along with the most difficult jobs.

After searching underneath for the motor he consulted the internet to find it buried beneath the inlet manifold of which there are eight.... Read more

Body off/on with a Disco only takes 2-3 hours - nowhere nearly as long as it takes to remove a v10 Toureg engine for similar jobs.

Presumably if you have access to fifty thousand quids worth of lifting equipment it's a 2-3 hour doddle - be interested to know what the standard workshop time is for that job.

Yesterday, driving on an urban dual carriageway, suffered a bit of road rage..

Was driving at the 30mph speed limit in the outer lane and when the road was clear moved over to the left lane to be in the correct place when the road split a bit further on, and an old astra pulled sharply across in front of me and hit the brakes, I had plenty of rooom to stop and did so. He stopped, so i decided to pass on the outside, but he moved across to block me. I stopped and waited, and noticed a bus behind me ( i thought he had stopped) applied hand brake (taking foot off brakes and as i opened the door the bus rolled very gently into the back of my car, (NO damage, paint not scuffed even) and swmbo and myself naturally not hurt....
