Audibus

Hi, I'm looking for some advice as i've just bought a 2004 (54) A4 avant and on the way home it suddenly lost power and then the engine management light came on so I pulled over and turned it off. A couple minutes later, started driving and it was fine for 30 secs then lost power again. Whilst waiting for RAC I was advised by someone to remove the pipe from the actuator and try it again. I took it up the road and it went fine and when I put the pipe back on, I noticed a split in that pipe. When the RAC arrived they said it was throwing up codes for EGR valve and turbo (turbo over boost) but couldn't say exactly what the cause was. He sorted the split pipe, cleared the codes and it revved fine until I drove it, it then limited at 3k but no eml this time. Seller and paperwork suggest it had a new turbo 1000 miles ago and then I drive it 60miles (sensibly) and this happens. Any idea what the problem is? Any help will be greatly appreciated as this is supposed to be my work car. Thanks in advance. Read more

A mate had a brief look earlier and when he disconnected the maf, it made no difference at all. What I don't understand is why it runs fine when the actuator pipe it removed but sounds and runs awful when reconnected?!? It's all a bit beyond me tbh, I don't know a lot about engines or computers so engine management is best left to someone else. I'm getting it checked out tomorrow as I do know it's not as simple as-it's doing "this" so change "that". I just hope it doesn't just become a massive ball ache and money pit.

I received a letter from the DVLA dated 4th Sept when I returned form holiday on 11th Sept.

It stated that I had failed to insure my motorbike but it was road taxed and I had to insure it or declare it SORN. I immediately insured the bike the next day, as my understanding is that as long as the bike wasn't on the road, I was complying with the law.... Read more

Was playing about on the Hyundai and Renault ones the other day and no problems here either.

Sounds more like a problem your end - you may have fast internet but you may not actually be getting that speed, you might have all kinds of other problems on your computer.

You won't get it on honest john but you might get it if you google around a bit. I've been in the same position myself and know how annoying it is to have perfectly good hardware but sadly lacking software. Security is not the issue, it is manufacturers keeping you paying money to them.

My P-reg Fiesta Mk4 1.3 has total loss of drive. I've taken the RH (Drivers side) driveshaft out, and found that where the driveshaft goes into the gearbox, there's no sign of the splines on the gearbox side...

Can I just say, genuine respect for getting the tools out and ripping the guts out of a nearly 20 year old hatchback. (That looks sarcastic, but isn't.)

Hi guys, we are considering changing my wife's troublesome Peugeot 207. Peugeot eventually cured the coolant loss problem of a couple of months ago but it has now developed a EMU problem that has got Peugeot baffled. Had a look at various car supermarkets and the choice has been reduced to a 1.2 SXi which are plentiful but without air con and a couple of 1.4's with aircon. Both choices are very low mileage. My wife averages about 200 miles per week mostly on a fast dual carriageway. My last experience of Vauxhall was a Viva HB so any upto date opinions re Corsa would be more than welcome. Read more

Hey there all,

The ususal problem! Fan only worked on high setting, then not at all.

I have pulled the resistor card and solder in and it worked great for all of 10 minutes on ALL speeds... the fan blower has been making a really good rattle (it sounds off centre) and I'm thinking it may have to be the purchase of a new fan motor, which I really did not want to go to the expense of.... Could be something caught in the fan motor blades. However access to the motor is not easy on these. You will need to remove the top section of the dash as the motor sits to the right of heater box.It is a twist fit so no tools needed to remove it from the heater box.As the car is a lhd model ,it may be easier as there is no steering column in the way.
