No I haven't but out of interest checked out their terms as members of our family have bought from drivethedeal and carfile. Ukcarbroker ask for a deposit but don't say when you pay the balance or who to. With dtd and carfile it is a main delaer.

A company credit check shows ukcarbroker as formed in 2012 and dormant, non-trading. So proceed with caution which is what you'd do anyway I'm sure.

I've bought 2 cars from carfile and everything went like clockwork. I paid the dealer, not the broker.

If you look up the address given it shows a site/postcode encompassing quite a few different businesses including a valeting firm, a car dealer (not the one in question) and a fairly well known motorhome dealers. UK Car Brokers didn't feature in my search using the address given, but you would make of that what you will - it may well count for nothing.

What is in no doubt though is that Carfile and DrivetheDeal are very well established and I don't think anyone would doubt their credentials or longstanding.

If you Google "Wollcotts" you'll see that a number od people were relieved of cash with nothing to show for it. The victims of that particular scam all lost their money and no goods were ever delivered. The case is with Action Fraud as we speak. Those who lost out now wished they had bought from accredited outlets and not an unknown quantity with no web presence. This has no direct bearing on this topic other than to remind people to be 100% sure before parting with money.

With many apologies could I trouble Avant to look at the above post where I mentioned Woolcotts. I have spelled th "W" word wrongly. It should be Wollcotts .... I've initially put too many O's but not enough L's.

And if, indeed , the whole post of mine isn't thought to be entirely appropriate I'm sure Avant will delete it anyway.

The Wollcotts saga on AVForums is a blow by blow account of a mischeivous but clever internet scam which netted thousands of pounds from ordinary folk who got drawn in to thinking they were making domestic purchases online - but were actually just making cash donations to the scammers.

I must have missed that the first time round, KB. I've now edited the name as requested but otherwise there shouldn't be a problem.

The times when I have to draw the line are usually when someone has a poor experience with a dealer and makes insulting comments - understandable but there may be another side to the issue, and we're not here to threaten someone's livelihood. That doesn't seem to be the case here!

Update on my Audi Purchase, After alot of searching for a good deal i decided to buy my Audi through ukcarbroker and I'm really pleased that I did. The discount and the service they provided was brilliant, Kevin the owner was very professional and always answered my queries. I am now enjoying my new car.

Thanks

Is this an advert ?

No, I don't think so. The original post asked for opinions, and dharry was then kind enough to come back with his experiences.

I often get things wrong ! Sometimes too naive and sometimes trying to be perceptive. Cheers
