I'm trying to sell my automatic Focus (78k miles), having never sold a car before. I've had it for 2 1/2 years, and have only had one issue - the gearbox went and I had to get a replacement (from a 40k car) put in by a specialist. Since then I've had no issues, and otherwise the car is fine. I have been honest about this in classified ads and when people have rung up and asked whether there have been any issues with it, but clearly it has put people off. Seeing as it runs perfectly now, am I unnecessarily disclosing this info? Should I just keep schtum, say it is in good working order and leave it at that?

I have a citroen xantia, it has sprung a leak from the rear, the leakage is green fluid which i think is hydraulic fluid, i ve been told by citreon it could be just a pipe that has come off or split, i have been under the car ahnd cant see anything, the rear middle sphere seems wet with fluid where as non of the others are wet, please can someone shed some light on this situation, and possibly give me some info as what needs to be replaced. You need a Citroen specialist, a main dealer will charge an absolute fortune to fix ,and a regular garage will turn it away in disgust.
The pressure side runs at up to 700 pound s per square inch, so sometimes a leak will be almost a vapour if its from a very small hole. it wets everything, but you often can't see where it comes from easily. If its just a drip it will be on the low pressure return side. The metal pipes can be made up by a specialist, they are a different size to ordinary pipes used on most cars. Metal pipes can corrode, rub through or crack from vibration. plastic low pressure pipes can dislodge or rub through. Spheres should be replaced every 4 years or so.
Hi There,
My wife recently had a minor incident in our car, whereby she was struck by a motorist from behind as they were exiting a roundabout. The key piece of information is that she was travelling to a work event and not her usual place of work.... Read more
I have some sympathy with the poster here. It would seem that commuting only means travelling to /from one place of work. I queried this when insuring our vehicles and was told should I go to a course at a different location once per year then that would require me to have business cover. I think it worked out at 20.00 extra.

Our insurance company added business cover for free when asked about the difference between commuting and an occasional visit to another site.

Hi
My car has done 110000 miles from new and I've started to have a problem where the car goes into limp home mode and, obviously, loses power. I don't use this car very much any more - it's more like a van for when I need to buy something dirty or heavy and so it probably only does about 2000 miles a year - if that.... Read more
This car does not have a DPF, so that is not a possible problem. More likely to be the EGR valve sticking, or one of the many sensors (mass air flow sensor comes to mind as a reasonable suspect)
However, you could just go and replace those parts, and find it's something else entirely. Far better to get a diagnostic test carried out if possible, rather than random parts replacement....
I bought my car during some dry weather, so water getting into passenger footwell wasn't noticed at first. But after I noticed it, I checked a number of forums. Several people appear to have had this problem, but no one seemed to have posted a proper solution that worked. First the pollen filter cover had split. I repaired this with some plastic. I also checked the drain at the side, but this was clear. Bear in mind that the water entering the car is not under pressure. It's simply finding the easiest route down. Eventually I removed the bulkhead cover, pollen filter, and it's housing. Where the seal is, I put a bead of quality sealant around the seal. This is anti mould sealant that can be applied to wet surfaces. I replaced the filter housing firmly down, screwed it back in with the plastic nuts, and replaced everything. Since then I have had no leaks, despite some quite heavy downpours and the car being on a slope. Hope this helps someone, but contact me if you need more info. Read more
Did/do people on the contintent think their cars were worn out after 100,000km rather than miles?
Idly wondering if potentially less worn spare parts might be available across the channel... Read more
