I work for a small company with offices next to a small court yard. There is an area reserved for parking, with each space marked with an indication of the owner. Parking is difficult, and we often park two cars deep, nose to tail. This morning there was a Nissan Micra in one of our spaces, causing huge disruption as it effectively fills three spaces. Normally we move our cars as and when one of use arrives or leaves, but this car is immobile. It has appeared before, before we arrive, and is still there when we leave.
What can we do? I believe this is a civil matter so the police do not care.... Read more
Thanks all. While at my desk I realised the car was pulling out and legged after it. The young woman driving claimed she did not know it was private parking. Yeah right. So, problem solved. Someone trying to get free parking cos they didn't want to pay. We used to have cameras but the company pulled out due to lack of infringement.
The micra is 4 years old and has done 15000 miles. First 3 services at main dealer, 4th service at local garage - used in the past and good. 2 weeks after service the oil light comes on at tickover (600 rpm) when the car has been driven for about 5 miles. The sensor has been changed to no effect. The sump was removed, that & the strainer cleaned. Fresh oil and filter were used and the problem remains. There is no sign of an oil leak and I believe the pump to be chain driven. A pressure guage shows the pressure to be in spec at the test revs of 2000 rpm Any suggestions as to remedy other than replacing the pump and hoping or upping the tickover revs?

my merc sl 500 cuts out on idle, drives ok, pulls well, but rev counter doesn't work so no way of telling what its doing on tickover. in traffic i have to keep shifting to neutral to keep it running. leads and plugs are good, caps and rotor arms are new. 143k on the clock. Do these have idle control valves? is there any way i can get under the bonnet and increase the tickover rate? i have to give it some revs in neutral while raising/dropping the roof. please help! Suggest you join official MB club and their dedicated section for your model will be of great help. Plan B would be to use a specialist MB indie.
I've been attempting to access the injectors on my 1.4 tdci fusion. It was necessary to remove the cylinder head cover but now I'm having issues refitting it. It doesn't seem to sit nicely with a definite lift at the back. I can't see anything trapped and I didn't want to just start torquing it up hoping for the best. Would it be the manifold seals ? Thanks, Matt. Read more
Hi everyone
I'm desperate for help with my car. My partner recently done a service on the car and has replaced the idle control valve. He also removed, cleaned and replaced the injectors He cleaned the throttle body and started the car but the revs went really high and didn't come down. He read somewhere that aggresively cleaning the throttle body can take off a coating so we purchased a second hand throttle body and fitted it. The revs are still high. He tried taking it round the block but the temperature went up really quickly. We have no idea what the problem could be as Ford says it needs reprogramming and a local garage says it's an air leak, but he can't find one anywhere.... Read more
Why would anyone remove the injectors for cleaning ?perhaps the O ring seals around the injectors are damaged, letting in excess air.was it running ok before?
He thought he was doing the right thing by ensuring everything was clean and changing gaskets, seals. There was a major build up of carbon. Everything was running fine before hand.
Bought a second-hand Honda CRV in June 2014, sold with a 6-month warrantee by the trader. Suspension problem needs attention and trader is sayiing I must pay labour charges, they will pay parts. Is this legitimate?? Read more
Not on the face of it, but give us all of the facts first.
Hello, hope someone can advise on this. We have seen a VW Touran reg 60, which has been hit to cat D damage and then bought off the auction by a garage. We have been using them for a while with our current car so have trust in their work. They repaired it and now offering for sale. The car is in great cosmetic condition inside and out, the damage was to the front so they replaced the griddle, the bonnet and some plastic in the front. They showed us the car photo before repairs and it doesn't seem like a big deal. They are offering 6 month warranty on it.
Now the Parkers price estimate for this car is £10K private good condition, £9K poor condition with a mileage of 40K. This one only has 11K miles on and they are asking £9.5K for it. It seems like a high price for an ex-damaged car to me, but I don't know how the pricing works in this case. Also I'm worried whether the damage record will be a problem to sell it later on should we decide to change it?... Read more
Thanks very much for your answers. We definitely are giving it a miss with so much negative points that you've raised! Off to the next test drive :)
Hi,
I have just found out this morning from my 77 year old father that back in December last year he was asked by my brother who lives in Spain to purchase a car in his name on finance and my brother would export it and pay my father back. My father went and paid a £500 deposit to the dealer in Derby but then decided there maybe a possibility that this would all go wrong and decided against pursuing the purchase. ... Read more
