I was just wondering if anyone had suffered the same as me? Driving along - quite happily - under 40mph and suddenly a central warning message came on in the dashboard cluster stating "indicative light failure" - it flashed up and then shut down the entire engine, engaged the brakes and I came to a complete stop. I turned off the ignition - thankful no-one was behind me - and then on stage 1 the radio came back on - so I had power - but nothing else. I waited for 5 minutes wondering what to do - and then tried again (as you do!) and it all came back on and I got home ok. I am off to the garage - but would love to know if anyone has any knowledge of what this might be???? Many thanks Andy. Read more

No headlights, hazard lights, or anything else that normally works without the key?
Start simple and check/charge/change the battery and get back to us...the battery could have died during the journey depending on what the fault is.
Hello all, I have been struck with the famous Nissan micra k12 power steering problem. The red light is on and the power steering is gone. I have yet to diagnose it as this just happened today Sunday and garages will be closed. Anyways, I have a few questions.
Firstly my car is a 1.2s 3dr hatchback. I have just the basics and hasnt got any keyless or keyless start. If i buy a refurbished unit, do i need to reprogram the ecu.... Read more
Firstly, removal of the steering column will involve dismantling of the driver airbag system.Secondly, you need to be very careful here ,as the steering system forms part of the immobiliser electronics. There are firms that reckon they can be fixed, but if not successful you could end up with a dead car.A second hand unit can't be used unless you know somebody that can virginise the electronics.
I drive a 2002 Tino. 1.8petrol. 86,000 miles.

I see a number of 'expensive' cars on the roads and wonder who these people are, and how much they must earn. I'm not talking about £10,000-£20000 cars (which I can understand). I thinking of something like £30,000-£50,000. In addition to the purchase cost, these vehicles of cost a lot to insurance, maintain and fuel.
How much do these people earn? Are most of these people earning over £100,000 or are they living in sheds?... Read more
The vast majority of these cars are on contract hire or lease deals where the punter is funding the depreciation of the car (and some) which then is auctioned off or sold on the forecort after a given period - most company cars are covered by this arrangement.

Hi all
I have an issue that is getting worse, started off intermittant but now nearly everytime i drive. I'm getting smoke from under the car, below the front seat area. Seems to be either something on the exhaust or coming from under the shielding of one of the pipes running next to the exhaust (passenger side i think) - stopping and turning off car for 5 minutes allows me to continue with no smoke for a while??... Some years ago, when I worked in a training role in industry, I took the IAM test myself and tried to introduce a course using what then was IAM Fleet Training - there was no take up! Yet if one put an operator to work on a dangerous piece of equipment then safety training was essential. A company car is an equally dangerous piece if equipment! Read more
Went to pull away from my drive, stuck the key in the ignition and the 'clicking' that usually occurs when you move the key clockwise did not occur. Instead, as it moved to completion all that occurred was the radio turned on, the engine did not start. The lights and indicators work however central locking has stopped working. Any information would be helpful, cheers. Read more
Could be a flat battery.
Hello, I own a vw polo twist 1.4 hatchback. It's a 54 plate and I've had the car 2 years. Since I bought it I have had quite a lot of problems and I've already spent more money than I can afford on it. A month after I bought it the engine management light came on and has stayed on pretty much since then. On diagnosis it showed a catalytic converter error code. The mechanic cleared it and advised I go on a long journey as it may be due to the car not getting long enough runs. I did this and 2 years later I'm still with the same engine light. Earlier this year I was driving at 40mph and the car began to lose power and the speed was dropping dramatically. The engine light and EPC light both lit up so I pulled over and stopped the engine. After 3 mins I restarted the car no problem. Just to be on the safe side I called the AA and they diagnosed the same fault as a year and a half previously (catalytic converter). He said it might be I need a new coil but as it was running ok again he said I should wait and see if anything happens. Obviously I would much rather it be a coil problem than me needing a new cat so I was more reassured after this. Since then I haven't broken down but engine management light is still on and the car occasionally revs on its own accord when I'm stationary. I am worried because of an upcoming 400 mile round journey and if it is the catalytic converter am I at risk of inducing the problem by driving it for such a long time? I'm so worried about it I'm considering selling the car and buying another one before I go on this long trip! Please help with any knowledge or advice that you know! Thank you Read more
Have you had the codes read?
Must be indicator light failure which would be unrelated to the engine but as they ocurred together, it must be an electrical problem on multiple systems such as a supply fault or maybe a faulty instrument cluster?.
Check for fault codes with VCDS or similar.
