Hi can anyone help please. I have a 2000 x reg ford fiesta endura e. Recently I had the headlights stop working on the car. Side lights work and headlights would work briefly but when indicator was put on it would turn off. Thought it could of been a indicator stalk problem like a previous car so changed it but has not solved the problem.
The things I've tried so far are : changing stalk, changed both bulbs, checked all fuses in drivers side and all seem fine.
I have tried looking at the junction box in engine bay but the diagram in the handbook has a different lay out printed compared to the car. I have still checked all the 60amp fuses but have got to the point where have no idea how to repair this fault.
Please can someone help if possible
Many thanks Read more
Ive not had this car for very long and it appears I may have done something a bit dumb.
First let me say for the past 10 years Ive happily plodded around in my Pug 405 and thought seeing as I had some spare money I would get a newer car. Now Ive kept my pug on the road all these for one reason "NO CAT ON THE EXHAUST". Anywho I decided to buy this smart though poorly looked after car last owner had it 8 years according to the V5.... First thing to do with Pug/Cit cars is a BSI reset procedure.
My son's car was declared SORN and parked off road by our rented garage which is situated about 20 minutes away from us. It had a note of a number and name displayed in windscreen if anyone needed to contact us. There were no problems until last month when out of the blue he got a letter saying it had been taken to the pound as it was found on the highway, followed by a fine from the DVLA (a payup or go to court letter). Now on both these items of communication the name of the road where the vehicle was found was incorrect (ie it doesn't exist). When we wrote to the DVLA explaining that the car must have been moved by an unknown person (ie attempted theft) and that the road didn't exist they have replied by saying "the road is actually P...L.." and we want written permission from the owners of the land that you had permission to park there. The written permission we are unlikely to get as the rent is paid to an agent and we have no contact with the actual owners. Can the DVLA just say "oh we made a typing error". He is now being threatened with being taken to court again when he has done absolutely nothing wrong. Advice please Read more
I use Mac, thus not an immediate issue to me. As for instant, no-one expects that!
Mac or Windows, only a complete muppet clicks on random links on forums anyway, especially ones that are unclear in purpose and destination.
I have just bought a used Mercedes 2002 E240 Saloon and each day, the battery is completely flat. I took it to a garage who said there was a 1/2 amp drain on the battery but couldn't find the cause. I called an auto electrical engineer out who checked everything over then told me I needed to change the battery under the bonnet as the other one was fine in the boot. I went to Halfords and they told me I needed a motorcycle battery for the engine and the one in the boot was too small!! The one they recommend was twice the size of the one I have in there. What battery sizes/type should I have in both the boot and under the bonnet as I can't find anyone who can tell me. Merc want £75 just for booking it in before they even look at it!!!! Any advice would be very much appreciated!! Thanks Read more
Have replaced both batteries today at huge cost from Mercedes so will keep you updated tomorrow if the car starts or if there's still a power drain. Thanks for all the help guys!
I'm looking to get a new battery for my focus saloon 1.8 petrol (reg 2000) I know it takes a calcium battery; but some batteries are not just calcium they are silver calcium. Is there a difference or is it just labeling?

Remove the ac pump and use a shorter belt.A 5PK 1230 will do the job,but the engine mount will need to come off to fit it.
Hi -
I just discovered water dripping out from under my ford focus c-max. I'm sure it's water - I tasted it!... Read more
If it's perfectly clear water it'll be the air conditioning evaporator drain. This is normal and also proves that your A/C is working well.
I bought this car second hand a few months ago and within 3 weeks the engine management light came on. It was jumping when I was driving but then it wouldn't start on a morning. It keeps trying and takes 15 mins to get started. You have to let it tick over for 5 to 10 mins and then it runs fine. If it stands again for more than an hour and a half you go through the same procedure again although it doesnot take as long. It sounds like its missing and put puts a few times.
It was put on to the computer and it came up as a cam sensor which i had fitted but it has not solved the problem. I've been told its the tensioner on the timing chain and it will cost 800-900 to replace but probably is not worth spending that much due to the age of car and another couple of garages do not want to know. I have been reading some old reviews that seem to have the same problem. Do you think it could be the timing chain? Read more
Most likely a stretched timing chain. This will give a cam sensor fault as the timing of the crankshaft sensor and camshaft sensor then become out of sync.
Thanks, everyone says the same about the chain but also say its an expensive job for an old car....
Hi, found your forum while searching for some info about a truck hire so thought I'd pick your brains for some more!
Am moving house and would like to hire a 7.5t as don't think a Luton will be big enough for a single trip. I've never hired one before although am perfectly comfortable with big vehicles so that won't be an issue. Just want to get some details sorted out that have been mentioned to me -... Read more
Before you get too involved, have you tried some of the smaller, but professional outfits, likely to appreciate shall we say the discreet approach, and let them move you.
I ask because SWMBO used to own and drive her own removals lorry, and when we moved here she contacted a couple of local companies, one of which did our move for us (2 x trips with Mercedes transit sized Luton van) with 2 really nice young chaps, for little more cost than we could hire and fuel a 7.5 tonner for....she knew the game so arranged it as move alone no packing/unpacking required and obviously we helped the lads....
Hi all,
I have a coolant leak. It is actually leaking from underneath the car when the car is hot. The drops of water /coolant are dripping from the aluminium exhaust surround (heat guard whatever) on the passenger side of the car towards the front, so basically somewhere inbetween the handbrake and the middle of the passenger seat, but underneath. ...
