I'm having some problems with my 2004 Mondeo 2.0 TDCI (MK3). I found that whilst the engine is cold (say early mornings) if I get up to speed at sit at a steady 30 - 40 mph with steady revs the car will start to judder slightly. It feels like it wants to cut out but it doesn't and no lights come on the dash. If I accelerate or deaccelerate then the juddering goes away. It only appears when I sit with steady revs. I've found it happens most at around 40 mph with 1.5k - 2k revs.
Once the engine has warmed up the juddering completely disappears. I originally thought the EGR valve might need cleaning but I can't see why the juddering would disappear when the engine is warm.... Read more

I once read a notice at the entrance to a car dismantler's premises; I think it was located just outside Oldham. The notice made it clear that the yard was not a 'scrap yard' but a 'car dismantling yard' providing employment for local people. Customers must go to the office with a list of their requirements and those would be provided from stock, or after a couple of days. The service was excellent and I got everything that I needed.
I think that the service provided by the local residents of the town where the car was stranded were as good. No mess left, which would exclude Irish Travellers. I'm sure that the remaining parts of the shell will go too, if the authorities don't intervene.
My old mate gravitated from National Tyres a bit back to the opposition over the road.
Now has trained the "workers" not to use air wrenches to get wheel nuts off and to use torque wrenches to put them on.... Read more
Nothing wrong with them using the 'windies' to take off the wheel nuts/bolts.
Unless it's a locking nut/bolt....
I am overseas again, visiting my father who is wintering in the eastern Mediterrranean. His rental car is a Suzuki Splash (auto). Mine is a Kia Picanto.
Main impressions is that apart from boot space (only space for one medium size suitcase if you're lucky) these are very acceptable cars for almost all one's driving. Nippy around town, sufficiently quick to keep up on the motorway up to about 75mph and adequately economical. Both have slush boxes but surprisingly appear to have decent torque. I wonder is this is because the cars are light? I drove an Astra with 1.6 auto last year and it was a slug.... Read more
I have a LGV licence.
The worst drivers on the road IMO under the LGV umbrella, who like to think they have LGV skills, are the 7t box lorries driven by idiots on car licences. They drive them like a car and give proper LGVers a bad reputation.... Read more
Cannot say I agree with you fella given some of the ridiculous fees some docs charge!!! neither should would be pornstars receiving boob jobs on the nhs be allowed as seen recently!!!
No-one dictates prices/fees in a free economy - it's up to the "buyer" to shop around - communism is dead even in Russia and China, remember ?...
Who remembers these? They only sold in low numbers, much like the Talbot Tagora.
Location of final assembly for modern cars isn't that important - robots and workers from other industries can put cars together anywhere.
It's important that the UK retains the high value aspects of car production - R&D, design, development and high value assemblies like engines....

I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that you were complaining about the lack of a prompt 'Thankyou'

I cleaned the EGR valve this afternoon, and it wasn't that dirty. However the issue is still there.
Could this be the DMF? I just can't understand why it would get better when warm?
