Completely abandoned car looted more like - would you just abandon your car like that or make some sort of recovery attempt? I suspect the insurance company will tell the owner to do one - quite rightly too - you have a care of duty.

The Daily Mail is like the bible - absolute truth to some and fabricated nonsense to others.

I once read a notice at the entrance to a car dismantler's premises; I think it was located just outside Oldham. The notice made it clear that the yard was not a 'scrap yard' but a 'car dismantling yard' providing employment for local people. Customers must go to the office with a list of their requirements and those would be provided from stock, or after a couple of days. The service was excellent and I got everything that I needed.

I think that the service provided by the local residents of the town where the car was stranded were as good. No mess left, which would exclude Irish Travellers. I'm sure that the remaining parts of the shell will go too, if the authorities don't intervene.
