Almost all vehicles have a lower MAM than the sum of front + rear axle limits - this is to allow some flexibility in positioning the load.

I have a 2007 renault Megane 1.5 diesel. The engine number is k9k732.

The crankshaft is broke and the pistons are not so hot either so I need to replace it.... Read more

Not sure for Renault, but BMW block numbers stay the same until a changed is done. Blocks don't change that often either, so some cars out there have bocks designed overy 20 yrs ago. Just new gizmos attached.

So I guess you would be takng a trip into the unkown, if you fitted it.

hi would running my vectra dti 2003 without standard air filter do any harm , my mate is borrowing it and messed air filter up so he is running it with fine metal filter in it till he can afford a filter thanks Read more

It'll gradually wear the engine out - much quicker that with a filter - but the odd mile without won't do much extra damage.

I have a Volvo V70 Estate 2003 Moddel and the main beam comes on but will not stay on as the switch lever on the stearing column does not seem to hold the beam on. The main beam works if I manually hold the lever in position so it is something wrong with the switch on the stearing column or something else? Read more

The point I was making although not very well is that if he reads the manual first there would be no need to ask the question. As you rightly say the OP has not turned the headlamps on.

True....

Hi, I have just had a timing belt snap (the main one was replaced at 95,000 miles) on my ford focus zetec S (59) with 156,000 miles, I was told that it was the inner one that snapped that has no replacement schedule ?? I have had it repaired (all new valves and pistons) and a new clutch and flywheel. It came back from a local independent garage only to find it had a fuel leak, it went back and I was told the fuel pump had gone (not his fault !)and it has now been reconditioned only to find it still had a fuel leak. (after 3 trips back it had two leaks (one from an injector and one from another pipe) I have expressed my concerns that there was nothing wrong with the fuel pump in the first place)??
It also now is a lot more noisy and it now makes a rattle in reverse gear and has a shake when reversing at very speed and a little bit when in first gear creeping. Any advise would be appreciated.

Hi, it has had a new clutch and flywheel when he repaired the engine. the rattle comes and goes but is getting worse by the day but the rattle gets worse when you put the clutch down and is still there when you take it out of gear.

Hi in my opinion it is good to buy a set of winter tyres, you dont know what the weather will throw at you, this year has been a wet mild winter but i still felt safer driving down the M1 on a wet and windy day knowing that the tyres were clearing away the water and if i had to stop suddenly, then the tyres would have dug in and gripped. eric roberts www.pellonautocentre.com/blog Read more

Immaculate- leather etc.
Hit a bell bollard, insurance write off. We intend to fix it.

Front/slam panel badly crushed at bottom. Is this hard or expensive replace? Any tips, or a guess at the price?

Bumper, rad, air-con condense also need replacement, but they seem straightforward.

I have found all parts except the front panel, available new, aftermarket. Front panel more elusive... Ideas?

I understand after fixing i have to get a new MOT, and vehicle identity check. Is it right that the car can never be sold? Any other hitches? Read more

Would it not be easier and much more economic to scrap the car after all a genuine one that old is hardly worth a fortune ,the cost and the trouble of getting this car back on the road you may as well buy another it will be cheaper in the long run.

Nutkey

I have been told (but not shown) by a dealer that the 2nd row seats in a 13 reg Sharan are removable, though I'm not clear by what process.

Since the dealers have already demonstrated that they are completely clueless about anything other than the basic features of the car, it would be really useful to know:... Read more

Hi, yes all the rear seats can be taken out of Mk2 Sharens & Alhambras without worrying about air bags, these only operate on the front seats. Not sure if this changes the newer the car is. The seats are well made and very heavy to lift in and out but is almost van like when this is done. Hope this helps. Sparky100.
