Mercedes W124 Indian imports

Hello MGA owners,

I am looking to buy an MGA and have seen one with many pics. I had four many years ago in the 70's. The car in question is a 1956 LHD and lives in the US. One of the chassis plates is perplexing me. Its reads as follows - I may have misread the info as some of the characters are rather faded, but does anyone have any info, please. I am quite on pursuing this car, but nervous in respect of the odd chassis plate.... Read more

I have a mini cooper which has the dreaded 'intermittent fault'. Sometimes I can get in and start it on first push of the button, another time the dashboard lights up as you'd expect and the engine fails to start.

The original main dealer can't find anything wrong with it or the local garage. Any suggestions please! Read more

Life's too short to keep on with it. I've learned my lesson not to buy toyota in the future, or at least buy out of warranty and with my eyes open. I'm sure toyota couldn't give a toss whether I'm a happy customer or not, someone else will come along and buy their cars instead of me.

It amazes me when people think toyota are showing goodwill when they're only addressing faults they know about in the first place!

I consider buying a 'JUMPSTAR(TM)' emergency car battery booster. I have heard that some cars with advance sat nav and/or anti-theft devices may not be compatible. Is there any such known difficulty? Read more

Jump start/booster packs are fine on the majority of cars provided the correct procedure is adopted. It is always a good idea to try and get the earth lead (negative)connected to the engine ,rather than the earth terminal at the battery. Also it is important to leave the jump pack connected while the engine runs for a few minutes.Sometimes damage can be done when the pack is disconnected,as this can cause a major surge in power as the alternator takes over high load.Btw,leaving the glove box open on a Touran (and a lot of other cars)will not drain the battery,as the power to the light shuts off automatically after approx 20 mins.hth

Fuel light came on well before the normal figure of 400 miles...according to FuelLog, the Berlingo did 33.6 mpg to the last tank!

The last fill up on the 18th worked out at 38.4mpg, looks like the winter diesel switchover has occured. Read more

I am trying to find out whether the 17" winter wheels used on my X-type can be fitted to my XF. Both have 17" wheels but the tyres are different sizes. The X-type is 225/45/17 the XF is 235/55/17. Are they compatable? Read more

Not a lot of difference in offset, i'd be inclined to pop them on and have a look see, problems usually show themselves at the front, usually by catching the brake calipers or suspension leg.

Obviously the tyres are too small....

Hi,

I will shortly be in the market for buying a two or three year old Mazda 2 for my daughter.... Read more

Unfortunately she has her heart set on a Mazda 2 and despite my efforts she will not budge. Although I must admit I do think it is a classy looking little car, both inside and out.

Sounds as if you don't have much room for manoeuvre :-)
