hi would running my vectra dti 2003 without standard air filter do any harm , my mate is borrowing it and messed air filter up so he is running it with fine metal filter in it till he can afford a filter thanks

He should stop using it and spend the money saved on fuel to buy a new filter - only about £10.

It'll gradually wear the engine out - much quicker that with a filter - but the odd mile without won't do much extra damage.
