The interior windows have recently started misting up when parked after use. There is no evidence of damp in the footwells or load area. I am thinking possibly a clogged filter?

If so, where might it be? Read more

why don't you Google it, or even do a search on youtube , or read the manual, or just call the car dealer and ask them.

He's asking here, that's why it's called the Technical Forum, maybe you should try getting out of bed the right side. Sheesh.

Hello one and all,

3 days ago my 2002 Mini Cooper S developed a strange fault with the abs. After the car is started and as you pull away in 1st gear at a slow pace (no spinning) the abs light flickers and kicks in for a few seconds then clears, after that it is fine and would be for 500 miles hypothetically. It only seems to happen when the car is turned off, turned back on and then it kicks in when you pull away. The car has been plugged in, which came back all clear so no sensors are down etc.. Even if there was a magnet down on the driveshaft surely it would continually do it? All the tyres pressure have been checked and all running the same psi, I have even disconnected the battery for 20 mins, still no joy..

All help will be gratefully appreciated,
Cheers Read more

Don,t waste your time trying to remove the sensors. There are no reluctor rings on these, the sensors pick up a magnetic pulse from the wheel bearings.Check for any excess play in the wheel hub/ bearing assy.I would also check battery condition and charge voltage,as any excess voltage variation can cause problems with electronic control systems.hth

On the 17th February we were stationary in traffic in the centre of Hanley, and we were rear shunted by a FIAT 500 car that hit us whilst still possibly doing about 20 to 30 mph, as the driver admitted to the police they were looking at the car park and shops instead of the traffic.

We have been reading quite a lot about the frames of cars now that once bent will not be repaired we are still awaiting to hear back about what is happening. The rear 2 seats inside the car will no longer go up as they have been moved aout of alignment and when moving there is a loud scraping sound coming from the rear wheels but we could not see anything touching them also the rear of the car has received quite extensive damage and looks like the floor has lifted at the very rear. Have included a couple of photos and a link to the video footage out the front of my car.
This is the link to my video of the shunt and photos

Just to update the thread, we have heard from the garage where the car has gone too, and they have quoted about £3500 for the repairs and the rear floor has been bent.

We have checked on glass guide and the value at a dealer is roughly £7000 so just waiting now to see what the insurance company say if it will be repaired or not.

i would really appreciate if anyone can help me, my partners 2002 mondeo tdci 130bhp suddenly stopped just after christmas while we were out in it, big black cloud of smoke and then it died, since then its had a new engine, 4 new injectors, fuel filter, cam sensor, fuel filter, fuel pipe, fuel rail, nothing has worked and it is saying there is low fuel pressure on the diagnostic computer. we tried a new crank sensor in it and the fuel pressure was ok but it still wouldnt start. but now the pressure has gone down again.we are slowly loosing the will over this car and really need help to get it started. any help would be much appreciated Read more

Low fuel pressure can be caused by a worn fuel pump.

The car is on 18 inch rims which get 'kerbed' & give a hard ride...we are now in our 70s & would like a bit more comfort . The tyres are 225 front & 245 back X 45 . Would we be better going for either 17 or 16 inch rims ? Could we have 225 back & front ? The tyres will need changing this year & do 4-5000 pa. Could we go for an all season tyre ?

The car has been BMW serviced for all of its 46000 miles . We have been advised of a good BMW independant garage . Is there anything special to look out for at 10 years old ?... Read more

My son has a fairly new 330 it has 21" wheels the smallest it will take are 17" whether the OP has the same I would not know but as previously stated changing tyre and wheel size is not as easy as you think.Changing wheel size would near were I live help with kerbing damage to the wheel as there are a lot of low kerbs but without greater care would increase tyre damage.

Don't ignore physical checks - vacuum hoses, boost hoses.....check that the vane controller on the turbo can move through it's full range. If the vanes are coked up it will need a push with a screwdriver but don't force it.

I picked up my car from the garage after it had a new pulley/clutch fitted to the alternator (may or may not be significant), got home and parked on the drive. Later in the evening the horn sounded 5 or 6 times with random short and long bursts. I went out pressed the fob to unlock and it stopped. I left the car unlocked but a few hours later it did the same thing again so I disconnected the battery overnight. The car starts and drives normally and the horn hasn't sounded when I've been driving. Yesterday morning it was parked outside work for about 2 hours before it went off. I've now pulled the fuse until I can get it back to the garage. It has the usual Peugeot immobiliser but no alarm.

It seems like a short circuit but has anyone any ideas where to look? Also seems strange that its started doing this since it was in the garage.... Read more

A Peugeot Planet diagnostic might show something up.

Otherwise its going to be a good long look in the engine bay for any disconnected or damaged cables....

Hi there. I have had issues with front light units of a new cayman I bought 5 months ago. The lights keep condensing up on the inside of the lens whenever they were switched on in cold/wet weather. The condensation reaches around 8-9cm up from the bottom of the unit (they are 'tall' lights). The dealers replaced both units under warranty however the new set still did it. They took the car in (had it for 2 1/2 weeks), resealed the units and tested them....still the same thing. They then tried another cayman they had in stock and it did it also. After consulting with their HQ, their official stance is that whilst they agree there is moisture ingress/condensation, they don't see it as a fault....however they are willing to compensate my for my troubles with some add-ons for the vehicle.
