It sounds like your chosen mechanic hasn't got much of a clue or the correct diagnostic equipment.

You will need to take it to a dedicated diagnistics garage with capability for VW or a VW Independant garage. They will probably diagnose the problem in seconds....

One last point to clearify.

The officer took 4 pics of my car but none of them are clear. Blurry and too dark.
You can hardly see the number plate and definitively not where it could be.
A shadowy pic of my car.

They say it is a proof. To me it is no proof at all, unless you can clearly see my car in the street, on a yellow line.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

Railroad.

The most likely cause is a faulty fuel tank sender unit. You need someone with suitable diagnostic equipment (me), to run an actuator test on the gauge itself to see if it works.

My Audi A6 has been scratched in 3 places on the back corner of my bumper by some kind soul (!). The scratches have taken the paint off but are not that deep but more than a scuff. I'd be grateful if anyone can recommend a good, honest repairshop in South East London or nearby and roughly how much it may cost - ballpark (I appreciate it's hard to say without looking at it). Thanks - I think I'd rather get it done by a SMART repairer though as the car is on loan to me and I feel terrible - even though it was not my fault. If anyone has any recommendations in South London, if not South East London, please shout.

Spent over 500 on this car in the last 3 weeks roughly 1st problem was crankshaft sensor so got new one sorted, then then light was still comin on so then was told need new ecu, had that done and then the light still came on then told it was maf sensor and so changed that, thing is now I'm being told that there is water getting into the ecu and the only thing the garage can think of is is running down the loom wires and through the plug?? Anyone any idea how I can stop this or even where the water could be coming from? It isn't coolant as we are not loosing any, garage have now said need a new engine loom and I'm at my wits end Read more

Hi, my 2005 Grand Cherokee needs replacing (age, oil leak, needs work). The problem is others seem too pricey, too small, or lacking in extras/comfort (satnav, leather etc). It seems the Jeep is in a price bracket of its own.

I need for about £11k:
- a big boot for kit, UK holidays
- comfort/extras for long hours re work travel
- reliability/not too high maintenace costs (like everyone). Once value of car under £6k found independants didnt want to know the Jeep
- 15k miles a year (no real off-road driving), so expecting between 45-60k miles of use
- i am not worried about depreciation as like the jeep i will use it for 3.5 years and then bin it in an auction
- i am not worried about fuel. WORK PAYS FOR FUEL!!!! This is an important consideration... Read more

You should be able to get an 18 month old Chevrolet Captiva for that - perhaps with change - a good looking well equiped car - perhaps the interiors are a little scratchy - but at the price they are hard to beat. As Vauxhall Anteras are the same car rebadged - getting spares and servicing will not be a problem (Chevrolet are pulling out of Europe).

There was a batch of brand-new base model 2WD Captivas going for £12K (nearly half list price) - look out for bargains from dealers trying to unload their stock before Chevrolet pull the plug.

Hi all, we are seeking some advice re our broken car! Our 2.5 petrol s-max suffered a terminal engine issue last june(2013) requiring either a new engine or reconditioning the existing engine. We chose to recondition because a new engine was more than the cost of replacing the car. We were without the car for 5 weeks! because they were waiting on parts etc. That was a pain in the butt, but we were please to have the car back to working order...or so we thought.

The car was using alot of oil, it was aparent that oil was visiably leaking from somewhere so we returned it to the garage. They changed a seal, well the garage didnt..the engine reconditioners did. ... Read more

The rear wiper on my focus has stopped working. I have tested the power supply to the motor and it seems to have 2 live feeds. I can feel the motor click. I can also hear a relay click in the roof lining but not sure if this is related? Can anyone help? Read more

That's what I thought, though there is a relay in the head lining or in a rear pillar somewhere as it clicks away all the time. Will strip the panel out and try the earth. Sounds like i'll need to get a new motor tho. Thanks guys
