Hi all I'm new to the forum I bought this 55 plate vx golf plus new mot etc drives lovely it's only 105 bhp but still goes ok however after buying it I noticed on the mot advisory there was a oil leak but i didn't notice until I bought it the car drives spot on I've taking it to a mechanic as when I have a different car I always give it a service oil.timing belt etc he put it on the ramps and said it looked like the oil was coming from the back of the rocker cover but iphe took it off the ramps and told me to get rid of it but didn't give me a reason it was like he didn't have time saying that it was a Friday afternoon this car is 140000 miles in. got part service but no sign of belt etc all that don't worry me. if the turbo is on its way out is there anyway of telling this should i take his advice not service the car and move it on but I really like the car and don't mind spending service money on it a couple hundred pound some people tell me these engines are the best ones to have also the fuel gauge works some times not at all times anybody know or have had this problem any find would be much appreciated and thanks in advance I really want to keep this car but as with all my cars I want them right
thanks Carl Read more

Hi all,
I have an 06 plate seat ibiza and fitted a pioneer aftermarket stereo today. It was an absolute NIGHTMARE to fit and after finally getting it in I can no longer lock or unlock my car with the key fob. Also the stereo stays on after I've turned off the ignition. I used a wiring adaptor from halfords to fit it. Does anybody know what the solution is? I am not technical in anyway shape or form so simple language would be appreciated :) Read more
I am pretty sure I had some sort of difficulty installing it on my last car but that was a good few years ago so can't quite remember! I wanted to try installing it in this car as it has bluetooth but I'm thinking it may be easier to stick with the original head unit and eventually price up some sort of external bluetooth unit! Flippin modern technology!

Interesting to note the grille was apparently inspired by Aston Martin. I'm sure Ford is happy for people to think this is the case! Read more
I guess anything would be better looking than the Darth Vader 'aftermarket bodykit' front end of the current Focus.
(This has been at the top of the Motoring section for a few years. It seems that it needs to go here too.)

On the motorway I am mostly overtaken by vans. How fast will a Sprinter go? Is it the fastest van? It seems to be. Read more
I thought the Astravan was the fastest-no matter where you go and at any speed, there's always an Astravan up your boot!
This one has me puzzled. Every car I have owned with discs all round has put more dust on the front alloys than the rears. Most cars I see seem to be the same. I have had this A3 for nearly four years and more dust comes off the rear alloys than the front whenever I wash it. Any ideas? Read more
Well thats interesting, but how nice that someone out there actually enjoys being in control of their own car and can feel the difference their input makes.
Thanks for the update....
Placing mobile speed cameras on stretches of road without a history of frequent accidents is like "shooting fish in a barrel", one of the country’s most senior police officers has admitted.
The Association of Scottish Police Superintendents (Asps) suggested tactics such as parking mobile camera vans on a bridge above stretches of motorway, such as the M9 approaching Stirling, is more likely to raise money than save lives.... Read more
A lot of the town here close to schools and quite a few of the residential areas are now limited to 20mph, fair enoughski, but the constant variation is poor. within a mile or so 30-20.30.20 30 40 30 (or the reverse. Crazy!
The " camera "is usually parked on a downhill bit before a dip depending on the direction of travel. (where it is easy to slip a bit over the limit)...
Although my driving and mileage is not suited to diesel a local, reputable garage has a 2010 Ford Focus 2.0 titanium auto with a genuine 5,000 miles on the clock. Does this mean that engine etc is roughly equivalent to a 6 months old car or does the lack of use indicate there may be trouble ahead ! Every Ford Focus I've seen appears to have sports suspension as standard. Is this the case and how is comfort affected ? A comfortable ride is a high priority. Read more
The Toyota CVT, and the related Subaru CVT, seem very good to drive - unlike some of the others.
