The US has suffered its worst winter in decades. The result of the punishment of weather and grit are thousands of pot holes. Even here with the persistant rain these past few months the roads are a mess. The relevant authorities on both sides of the Atlantic are chasing their tails filling them in. And costing millions for only temporary repairs.
The only winners are the garages fixing punctures or replacing with new tyres, supplying new wheels and more serious defects affecting steering or suspension.... Read more
Hi,
Hoping someone can help as I've failed to get hold of a main dealership to ask and there seems to be little or no info that I can find online.... Read more
Its listed as having a dual mass flywheel you can buy a solid flywheel conversion for the vehicle about 160ukp which includes the flywheel, pressure and friction plate.
A colleague filled his Golf's TDi tank with petrol yesterday and drove off before the engine cut out. He got the tank drained and a new fuel filter installed but how much damage could he have done (he says it's driving okay) and when is this likely to manifest itself? Car is a 2007 2.0TDi with £80k on the clock. Read more
Seemed to run OK for the next few hundred miles, though it was only about 4 gallons of petrol, and they seemed to spend a lot of time poking around the dash when I brought it back, so maybe it was showing a fault light.
And people say there's nothing wrong with an ex renter, no different to any other used car, proof if any were needed.
I spent a fair amount of time in my previous work at the very busy runway side sites at H'row etc, always a selection of cars put to one side waiting for the misfuelling van, and no i am not confusing these with the lines of cars being de-bowsed before de-fleet.

Hi all,
I know the DS5 is not particularly highly thought of by the motoring press, but I'm really interested in one. Due to its quirky looks and personally I liked the way it drove. I'm probably looking about 18 months old from a dealer.
My question is how reliable is the car likely to be over say 3 years and 100k? I know PSA have made strides in this area in recent years, but does anyone know much about the DS5? I understand the 2.0 HDI when looked after is pretty robust. I've searched the net but can only find a group of owners frustrated with their hybrid cars MPG.
Thanks. Read more
The ride issue seems to be the only thing the press are negative about. Although I noticed one publication could not get it's average score correct and still has it on it's website. So much for fair reviews.
All I would say is take one for a test run on roads that you know and you may be surprised...
My Hybrid on 18" wheels is perfectly fine - bumpy on uneven roads? What car is not?
Incidently I was a passenger in a new VW Passat and Toyota Avensis on roads I use daily and guess what? Much firmer ride than my DS.
Seriously take a test ride and don't be hood-winked into believing what some press regard as a driving trait. I hired a C5 in France and did over 3000 on mixed roads. Great on motorways - like the DS5 but on country / town roads my passengers felt car sick. Okay so set the car for a stiffer suspension so totally defeated the object of suspension design imho.
The original post referred to the gear box. The manual should be fine for many years assuming the usual maintenance is done. The Hybrid has an auto box and so far is reliable. It's my first auto and took a while getting used to along with the flappy paddles to manually change.
As I said earlier get a test drive and depending on the dealer you may even get a 24hr loan like I did to really try it out.
Could anyone help me with a radio code after battery was disconnected. The serial number of the unit is m116920. Thanks in advance Read more
Exactly;why do the work yourself if you can get someone else to do it for you!
HJ is always telling us to use it. Some interesting material from the US where the basic grade "gas" is pretty rough:
This does not apply to a diesel. Putting it crudely, diesel engines knock (but don't detonate) all the time and no engine to my knowledge can adjust injection timing according to the output of any kind of "knock" transducer.
Diesels can and do use knock sensors. Ford, Renault and VW use them. Delphi, NGK, Siemens VDO make them....

It would help if I knew the last 8 digits of your chassis number, but from your picture I think its called the CONTROL PIPE. Part number 2156 F1 and costs £21.19 from Peugeot.
This morning SWAMBO reversed our Passat to the back of our neighbour Fiesta, it was a shunt and the Passat did not have any damage.

I was told this by my local authority. Pot holes and bad parking slow down the traffic, and are therefore something they like. Seems crazy, but thats what we are up against
