Catalytic converters are not designed to reduce CO2 emissions. Their job is to oxidise carbon monoxide to harmless carbon dioxide, whilst simultaneously reducing nitrogen oxides to nitrogen and oxygen, and oxidising unburned hydrocarbons. If anything, CO2 emissions will be increased. Read more
he has not said CO2 emissions will be increased but that no figures have been released yet.he just said that emissions will decrease.

I left my car with a valet parking service at Gatwick.
On collection, the gear change was rather stiff. I noticed almost immediately that the car was locked in 4WD.
I disconnected the 4WD immediately, well before the exit roundabout.
The gear change was still a bit stiff, but loosened up on the journey home, and seemed to be OK.
I drove home well within the speed limits.
Cruising towards (decelerating, no brakes) the Amesbury roundabout on the A303 a terrible vibration started from the rear of the car. Not sure if it was wheels or drive train.
I immediately slipped the clutch, put the car in neutral and cruised to a halt with minimal brake pressure.
I then drove very slowly to a garage about a quarter of a mile off the A303. No vibration.
I then inspected the car and could find nothing wrong.
I then drove home slowly (about 1 hour) and the car performed as normal. No noise or vibration.
It's going to the garage on Friday. What should they look for? Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks Read more
Has it not been driven in 4wd for some time? Could have been the valet driver playing!

Hello there,
My first post here although I've been reading the forums for quite some time.... Read more
Toyota hybrids are excellent in town but much too frenetic on the open road. I can't see, though, any reason why this should be true of other hybrids. The future is either hybrids if they can bring the price down or improved battery technology which can give an acceptable range of, say, 300 miles before charging. Even then, charging can't be done in the time in takes to fill a fuel tank, so my money's on the hybrids.
The Audi A3 e-tron will be interesting when it comes out later this year - it has a 99 bhp electric motor coupled with the 1.4 TSI 140 bhp engine as in Skidpan's Leon. The only trouble is that he could just about get two Leons (or one-and-a half 1.4 A3s) for the price the e-tron is going to cost (I've seen an estimate of £32,000).
The vehicle is proving difficult to start after changing the cylinder head. The fuel pump was not allowing fuel through initially. Somehow the imobiliser on the pump had been activated. Overcoming this brought fuel to the pump and it did fire up but still failed to start. Each attempt to start brought fuel leaks at the spill line joints. Have renewed the push on spill line hoses but they still leak. This is a help thy neighbour project which is taxing my knowledge and skills as an engineer. I would like to succeed in getting my neighbour mobile again, preferebly without bankruptcy taking over. Read more
Peter, Many thanks for your assistance. The final push to get the beast started came from a freshly charged battery plush some extra clout from jump leads. The cut off valve had, I believe, been stuck in the closed position since it folded with a cracked cylinder head last July. Eventually it opened, but and I am guessing, it has yet to fully open as there is a steady flow from the pump body banjo coupling to the spill line, hence the spill line leakage experienced. Next stop check inlet and exhaust valve settings, present for MOT and back on the road, one happy neighbour and his six children, leaving me to just put my tools away.
Good Afternoon, due to illness I have not used my VW much during the last year.
Up until now I have always had the oil/filter changed one month before the MOT date, the annual mileage has always been 4 to 5 thousand.... Read more
As said above, the service indicator uses time and mileage to signal when a service is due. As long as the car gets thoroughly warmed up when you drive it (i.e. you drive at least 10 - 15 miles before stopping) and you're using VW505.01 / PD spec oil you should be fine waiting a few months until the summer.

Cars can be stolen in three main ways at the moment, house treft of keys. A tow truck or key clones.
Key scanning does not work on modern cars and until recently key cloning was not possiable. But the due to high tec. theives and good old EU law it can now be done....
Hello, I want to do a leak-off test by myself but when I removed the air cleaner, I forced a little problems. I can reach the back fuel pipe from the injectors which I should remove to put their the tester's pipes.

Sorry, nobody on here can do a "V" code (for free). We can only do "M" ones.
Ford Main Dealer or, if you want to take a chance, there are several people on Ebay who claim they can do them.

For ~£13k new, I'd consider one.
