Hi guys,
I was hoping someone can point me in the right direction when bleeding both radiator and coolant system on a Mondeo Zetec 2.0 2001 petrol car. I've been trying to find a way of doing it but as I'm no mechanic, looking for a step by guide online with some pics of what pipes it is that I need to unplug is really difficult to find especially for my type of car.... I've just been contacted by a customer that bought a C6 from me roughly 7 months ago. I supplied him with a Warrantywise Silver warranty (12mths)the highest level of cover for the car available due to age and mileage. It cost £288.
He's had a problem with the alternator, it stopped working! The warranty booklet clearly states that alternators are covered by the Silver level warranty. The garage have removed the alternator, confirmed the fault ( pulley failure) and submit a claim to warrantywise. The claim was rejected. Warrantywise are stating that the pulley is not part of the alternator therefore is not covered. Am I wrong I thinking that the pulley is most certainly a part of the alternator? I've never seen one without a pulley in my life.
I'm most disappointed by this. Should I fight it? Am I wasting my time? Read more
If you're a trader supplying WW warranties with your cars, then I ask how many such warranties have yyou bought in the last 2 years?
Maybe you should ring up WW and tell them how much business you've put their way, how they are defiling your rep and suggest to them you will stop using them....
Hey everyone,
So I want a cool vintage car, but I dont actually know very much about cars.... Read more
I'm the same as the OP but in reverse. I'm English and I want something like a Grand Victoria or similar, or a Corvette. It's all about showing off, something my Mum was always telling me off about.
If I drive everyday then no problems. But if I leave the car standing for a day or two then it drives fine for 5 miles, then I have trouble selecting 1st or 2nd after stopping at traffic lights. After driving another 30-40 miles the problem goes away again, and I can select 1st and 2nd after stopping at traffic lights.
I don't need to drive everyday so this is a real pain. After 5 miles when the problems begin, if I try to select 1st it just won't go, and I can hear the engine labouring ever so slightly when I try to select the gear. At this point the only way I can select 1st is to let the car roll forwards if I'm lucky enough to be facing downhill, or move the car forward a little in 3rd gear, then quickly select 1st. The only other option is to stop the engine, engage 1st, then restart the engine with the clutch down.
Please has anyone got any ideas? This is driving me mad! And the intermittent nature of the problem is very confusing for me. Read more
Had this on a Golf many years ago, warped clutch plate. Luckily for me replaced under warranty.
Coud also be linkages need adjusting or possibly the balls on the linkages are worn. Much cheaper than a clutch but very time consuming.
My car windows run with condensation all the time.
When it's cold I have ice inside and out.
I have real problems clearing the windows in order to start my journey.
I have not been able to find any water leaks.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to why or have I just got to grin and bear it. Thank you. Read more
Had this problem with an Astra. Turned out to be a wet pollen filter that was soaked when I turned the power hose on to the front of the car where water was getting in behind and under the radiator. Also check for damp leaves caught in the plenum chamber (under the windscreen) when you lift the bonnet

A couple of days ago we had a harsh frost, and the car was frozen. The windscreen wipers didnt work and i put that down to the car being frozen. However ater in the day, they still would not work. I have checked the fuses, they seem ok, the linkage is fine, and the relay is working as the rear wipers are working ok. Im at a dead loss here, can any one shed ny light on what could be wrong? newly purchased car didn't start at first try, two days after buying! Trickle charged battery for 30 mins and all was well, and all well at next use. We don't drive every day unlike previous owner, but still need confidence that it will start.... Read more
OEMs are looking for sub 20mA quiescent current. Bear in mind this is when the vehicle is fully "asleep", which may not happen untill 30 mins after it has been locked up.
If the battery was flat and you've only trickle charged it for 30 mins then you are essentially running around with a virtually flat battery constantly. It's probably got just enough charge to keep starting the engine and it's just about being replenished after each charge.
Take the battery off and charge it indoors (in the warm) for at least 24hrs....
