Hi
I currently own a Skoda Fabia 1.2 hatchback. There are only 2 of us and 2 small dogs but we would like to upgrade to a more robust car for bad weather conditions and long journeys. Can anyone recommend a small SUV or 4x4 at reasonable cost to buy used, cheap to run and insure and reliable? There are so many good car companies it makes choosing so difficult. Your help would be much appreciated.

Also look for Hyundai Accents, tend to be cheaper than Toyotas or Hondas and usually within your price range. Impoverished stepson has had three over the last few years, all for less than £1000, all reliable. (Changed each for a newer model with shinier bodywork)

Too late for you for this case, but fitting a Roadhawk or equivalent dashcam will record time, date, speed and geographic location. This might help support a defence (but will also record any speeding or other misdemeanours)
Just read about a guy who does 100,000 commuting miles per year...but likes where he lives so doesn't want to move. Wife's a copper in south Wales so she doesn't want to move either.

My car runs fine for a while then seems to run as if the turbo is not working but if I undo the fuel filter drain plug just a little bit power is restored. I have replaced the fuel filter but same problem now driving me mad.
