Adore my 2008 Fiat 500 Diesel Lounge. Two weeks ago I was driving straight & slow in storm conditions (fortunately) when I shed rear offside suspension spring. Reason: severe corrosion of cups and back axle. ( female, please excuse terminology errors). AA recovery alarmed. Returned to dealer who were shocked and sent photos to Fiat. Serious denial of problem by Fiat "out of warranty". Lengthy negotiations finally led to 50% of parts. Cost me £550; dealers carried recovery and part labour for goodwill that was otherwise seriously lacking from Fiat. I have photos. Was on verge of part-ex for new 500 automatic. Now lacking confidence. Any similar cases? Feel people need to keep an eye on their axle condition. Any comments/advice? Read more
I have a lot of condensation inside my front windscreen. The screen is a bit misty overall, but near the bottom there are several droplets of water on the screen.
One the frosty mornings I scrape the ice from the outside, then have to come inside and scrape ice on the inside too.
I have tried Holts screenies to try and keep inside of screen clean and it normally is clean, but this winter there is a lot of condensation.
Any tips on how to deal with this? Is it a case of clearing screen so condensation doesn't settle. Or is there a dehumidifier type device for cars that soaks up the water?
Thanks
D

Some steaming of inside is to be expected on a cold morning. Worst is when car's stood in winter sun all day and temperature drops rapidly at nightfall.
Applying de-icer to outside makes it worse!! ...
Difficult decision time. My 13 year old Picasso has suffered a clutch failure. Looks like about £400 to repair. I have caah set aside for a replacement, is it best now to cut my losses and scrap the pic? It's got 90k on the clock, bought at 3y old by me and done a well maintained 5k ever since. It guzzles petrol and the tax is £260. I was thinking of spending about 7k on a C4 Grand Picasso, or 10k on a Galaxy. Tending to the latter as the 3 kids will be massive in a few years and we keep cars about a decade.

We had a C-Max, pretty much the same size as the original Picasso, did what we needed a car to do, held all the luggage twice a year (just) and was pretty comfortable. Would ahve bought a Picasso when we bought it but the wifey found that the gear lever was too much of a stretch, preferred the C-Max.
Replaced it with a Kia Ceed SW. Its got more luggage space, better passenger space and does not take up much more space on the road and in car parks. Prior to the C-Max we had a 52 plate Mondeo, in car parks it was a real pain and the newer ones are even bigger, spaces are simply not made for them....

solved! vacuum pumping problem it was, but not the reason i was looking for.
where the vacuum pump joins the servo adaptor, the pipe had split, allowing air in. this was accompanied by water as the rain washed over it from the wipers/scuttle (the by-design system of drainage!). all compounded by lack of visibility of said pipe attaching until you pull the trim apart....
Today my wife parked in the new UKPC car park at St Stephen's Place in Trowbridge, Wilts. The car park offers 3 hours of free parking, but a ticket must be displayed. My wife failed to display a ticket. She returned to the car after less than an hour to find a "Parking Charge" stuck to the windscreen of £100, or £60 if paid within 14 days. The car park was less than half full. The "charge" seems out of all proportion to the failure on her part simply to display a ticket. Does my wife have to pay? I have spent ages looking through threads, but cannot find anything similar to this set of circumstances. Many thanks. Read more
MSE has a thread of someone who has just been successful against UKPC. Charge isn't a genuine pre estimate of loss.
Hi, has anybody ever used Delphi oil on a qashqai 1.5 diesel. I haven't heard of it before, but came up on a website i was looking at. It's 5w40 c3 fully synetic. Is it made by one of the big oil companies. Thank's for any info. Sparky100. Read more
Yes, it seems to have all the specifications that your car needs and it is a good price.

Keep an eye on Euro Car Parts, if they've got a sale on you can pick up a genuine one (Pierburg) for half the dealer price.

Hi all
My current car, my beloved Seat Exeo is coming to the end of its lease period. I am looking at a Hyundai i40 diesel. It appears an attractive option as a replacement and seems to have many creature comforts as standard.
Does anyone own or lease one, if so I would be interested to read your thoughts on this car in relation to ownership, fuel consumption, any niggles, etc.
I have read the review on here but it is based on an earlier model. Read more

Anyone know a good site to obtain free answers to Wills and Probate Q`s please?
I entered a Caveat after dodgy-looking dealings following a relative`s death and now a month later the solicitor has written to ask me to remove said Caveat ,saying they will apply to have Caveat removed if I don`t do so this month, and that I may incur costs. This is the first direct contact I have had with solicitor.... Yeah, we know it's an old thread too, and old threads mostly get resurrected by people who want to plant spam.
How can you dilute an emulsified component? By definition that component is emulsified with the main carrier, oil in this case, into a homogenous substance....
