I am a freelance television journalist looking to get in touch with people who have been affected by logbook loans. Have you taken out a logbook loan and felt misled by the company? Did you buy a car without realizing there was loan secured against it? Have you had your car seized as a result of a logbook loab? Are you a current or ex-employee of a logbook loan firm who feels the company acts unfairly? I am gathering background information for a film; any information provided will be kept in the strictest confidence. For more information, please contact Alex on 07716450385 or alextvcasting@gmail.com Thanks!

(surely most people who need loans dont own the car outright so loans cant be taken )

Loan companies will only lend against a car that has clear title ,ie no other finance company has registered an interest against it .

The register is the HPI register ,all loan companies will only provide a loan when the register is clear .

I would think think that car owners would only use LBLC if their circumstances had changed ,ie loss of job ,sudden large bill etc .

The cost of LBL are similar to pay day loans ,very expensive , in addition the ones I've looked at charged an initial setting up fee ,typically £150 .plus a release fee at the end of the agreement .

It's a loan type that's best avoided if you can access conventional finance .

I have a 2004 Saab 93 Vector(auto 2.0). Today the heating air fan and air conditioning have just stopped working. Meaning no air seems to be coming out at all !

I purchased the car in June 2013 and ever since I purchased the car there has been a clicking noise that came on for 5-10 seconds after I switched off the air con or heating fan. I'm not that bothered about the clicking noise but I am bothered about no air coming out.

Is there a quick easy and cheap way for me to fix this? and what is wrong with my car? Read more

Quick, easy and cheap are not things that can be done on a modern car.Certainly check the fuses first, but I would more likely to suspect a fault with the blower fan motor or speed regulator (same system as vauxhall vectra). You will need to drop the glove box forward to make any checks on the system. The noise you can hear is probably the air re-circ flap operating.hth

My son has owned his 58 plate BMW 123d Coupe since 2009. Purchased S/H from the local BMW dealer with a full service history. The car has been serviced by BMW in line with the recommended schedules but is now exhibiting 'problems with the electrics'. BMW checked the battery/alternator management system at the last service and pronounced all fine. My son's driving pattern has changed dramatically from doing 2 x 47 miles per day to just 2 x 3 miles per day and all his instuments, radio and trip computer are losing data and losing radio code etc. However there is always plenty of power to start the car before each journey. It appears to be the original battery. Any ideas about an inexpensive solution?

Find a garage that can carry out a conductance test on the battery. You may find that the battery can start the car,but if the voltage under cranking drops below around 10 volts, then a lot of electronic equipt will shut down and suffer memory loss.hth

Hi,

My 'other half' has got a '07 Ford Focus automatic with the conventional torque converter auto 'box. She's got an automatic-only license & does 25k a year (most days she's driving round the city all day so the automatic is a real benefit).... Read more

Toyota use CVT boxes in their petrol engined cars and some conventional autos in diesels. The hybrids are not CVT's but drive in a similar fashion. If you look at the Toyota range from June 2010 they have a 5 year warranty which can be extended if the car has been maintained in the Toyota dealerships. They also produced a box called the MMT which is to be avoided as there have been problems. Research shows no known problems with the CVT OR Hybrid transmissions. Check out the Real MPG tab on this site to see how economical or not they are. If you are looking at DSG style boxes then research thoroughly as there are problem boxes from several manufacturers.

Some kind soul broke my passenger wing mirror glass - it is hanging out half smashed. The back plate is still in pace. Do I buy a new mirror with the back plate or without and how exactly to I fit the new one? Any help would be much appreciated. It is electric.

A day after filling up the tank for my weeks commute I noticed that the performance of the car had taken a back step from its usual excellent self. It starts ok and idles smoothly however when putting the foot on the gas the pick up is slow and has no kick down, it then slowly gets upto speed. the speedo lagging the rev counter. As I use the motorway for my commute it does improve except for the climbs where it just stays at about 60.

My first thought is that I have contamined fuel so I am busy burning that off before refilling with a better diesel, my question is what should I consider looking into next if its not the fuel Read more

Collos25

No it doesn`t it suggests its going into LHM which will cut the revs and will not allow kick down as described.
