Hello HJ

I have a question ! My car was involved in a RTA last week. Anyway independent enginerr came out and did a visual inspection of my car which was on my drive. How accurate can this report be when he did NOT check under the car? ... Read more

If I were you I would try and get the car written off. With that amount of money to repair, it must be bad and they are never the same again and it won't be worth as much when you sell it.

Alright guys

I have got a Peugeot 206, year 201 and last week when it was really badly raining I noticed that there was a puddle of water on the front passenger side near one of the vents. At the time I put it down to my wife leaving her car belt in the door and not shutting it properly. So I cleaned it up and dried it out. Told my wife to make sure she shuts the door properly and she does now <*** title="Smile" height="16" width="16" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.peugeotforums.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif.pagespeed.ce.xM_f3u022S.gif" border="0" alt="" /> Because of how cold it has been it has taken a few days to fully dry...

However I have woken up today... (Not sure if it rained last night or not) and have noticed the puddle is back.. No idea what the problem is..

No where else in the car is why just there so totally confused. Can someone help? Because I need to know if there is a serious fault or not Read more

Its a known issue, there's a few areas where water can creep in.

Do a search on peugeotforums.com as its been covered quite a lot.

Is it reasonable to have to change your rear pads every 16k or so? Vauxhall want to insist that it is a reasonable position. Driven carefully witrh no excessive braking and driving 8k or so each year.

Also - is 5 years a reasdonable period before having to replace much of the exhaust system - front pipe, silencer, muffler etc. All totally shot and corroded. Read more

All my last three Astra's never had to have a new exhaust during my ownership. My current one (mk5) 2005 is still on its original exhaust (bought at 4 months old) and has only been used on short runs for the last 5 years. (2 miles each way to work and back). It has now just clocked up 30k but the brakes are getting ready for doing due to corrosion rather than wear.

Why not take it to another garage doing a free inspection for their opinion? I have had some great Vauxhalls but have only found 1 Vx dealer I trust which is 2hrs away from me in Lincolnshire. As they are wear and tear items I would not expect it to affect any warranty but do not quote me on that.

Citreondriver

On my Citroen C5 HDi 2.2 2003, I have been having a strange problem that the Citroen specialist is having trouble diagnosing. When I turn the key, the starting motor goes "plunk" (quietly) but does not turn over. The computer screen says " Put the gear lever in Park" , but of course I have. Sometimes persistence - putting it in and out of Park pays off and it starts. (I have had a new battery fitted recently). The Citroen garage fitted a "relay", but since then the problem has recurred twice out of ten starts. The car is still with the garage, who are trying to solve bthe problem.

Has anyone any advice to offer ? ... Read more

As Peter said, it is quite possibly the inhibitor switch or, seeing as you have had a battery replaced, I'd try a BSI reset first. Failure to carry out this simple procedure after the battery has been disconnected can cause all manner of strange electrical problems.

Although Technically separate, some of the body, chassis and engine control units "talk" to each other and if an incorrect signal is sent or mis-interpreted between them, it could cause this type of fault....
