The only rusty Citroens I remember are those vans that came before the current Berlingo. (C15)

Like the Mercedes Sprinter, rust seemed to tear into them with glee....

Another vote for the Avensis, or a Mazda 6. Go for petrol: used diesels can be liable to prohibitively expensive failures.

We say that rather liberally to practically every enquiry about a used diesel though don't we. The fact is though some are better than others and no two used cars are the same. A diesel without a DPF, with a good history and average mileage should be a perfectly acceptable buy. 4-5 year old ex fleet cars with main dealer history are generally a decent buy. Of course one particular VW diesel engine has a history of complaints and the Mazda 6 diesel was little short of a disaster, but something like a TDCi Mondeo should be fine.

We own a lodge on a holiday park and we enter each year into a guaranteed rental scheme where we give the lodge back to the park for 26 weeks and each quarter we are paid the guaranteed rentals. We should have been paid in Sept 2012 and the park owner has now turned around and said that they could not pay because the banks have withdrawn the overdraft. They have sent out no communication and can't give a time-frame of when we will be paid.

In the meantime throughout the year, holiday makers have been staying in our lodge and paying the money to the park. Has anyone else experienced this? What are your thoughts on where we stand legally?... Read more

If it comes to legal action there can still be problems. If you havea 100% case and get a judgement in your favour you then have to get it enforced and that is not necssarily straight forward or quick to get the money awarded .

Hi, I am a complete novice and would appreciate any advice?

I have had an intermittent oil leak for about 6 months, was told by garage that it was the sump box seal? I had this replaced but the problem continues? The same garage are now saying that they think the oil leak is from my big ends? They have put a dye in the oil tank and told me to take it back next Monday in order for them to be sure??

Can anyone tell me if this sounds right? I don't trust this garage anymore! They say that if it is the big ends the cost would be in excess of £800 !!

There is no noise from engine, just a very occasional ticking noise that goes once the engine has warmed up.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards

More than likely a oil seal that has gone if its the one that is at the flywheel end then I think from memory its an engine job to replace. But lets hope the new guy is more honest than the previous garage who are talking complete cattle manure.

72 dudes, I noticed that Polo and Yaris have similar depreciation rate. Would you consider Yaris (longer warranty) over Polo? What about Colt btw? Newer and cheaper than the previous two. What's your opinion on 207, 308, 508, C3, C4?

Polo vs Yaris: The Yaris makes more sense financially with the warranty, but for me the Polo is the better car....

I have a new metallic painted vehicle that i want to look old. Everyone seems to want to make them look new except for me.

Is there something , say wax like like ,that I can cover the awful silver metallic with to make it look like it has had 20 years service? I dont want to go to the expense of a respray or ruin it for the next owner Read more

I dont want it damaged but just to look old.

I'm looking to replace my 2002 Ford Focus Zetec 1.6 sometime soon. Its been very reliable for the daily commute and I'm thinking about replacing it with a used Mk II or Mk III version of the 1.6 Zetec. Owners comments are quite variable however, poor economy, uncomfortable seats, excessive engine noise on motorways etc.

I have around 5k to spend. Should I be sticking to the Focus or looking elsewhere? ... Read more
