What on earth is this?!!

I think it's a fibreglass shell on a donor vehicle. The Cd of that must be fantastic-under 0.2 I'd imagine.

In the old days, if you saw something like that you could bet that underneath it beat the lethargic heart of a sidevalve Ford, or if the engine was at the back, a very slightly less lethargic VW Beetle. Some 1172cc Fords were tuned to go faster, although why the tuners started with that engine in the first place isn't obvious.

I'm not sure what would be the ideal 'donor' engine for a kit car nowadays: 1.25 Ford perhaps. In time to come, the new 1.0 3-cylinder Ford engine will be a great choice.

The 1172cc Fords were popular because they were plentiful - most easily out-lasted the rust-buckets they'd originally been fitted in.

BMW engines are the current popular kit-car choice - because more BMWs are being scrapped than Mondeos - something to do with sales volumes !!

I know not, but I'll bet it hasn't got a DMF ...

Looks like somebody's Trainer has fallen off. Obviously no speed bumps in the US then.

Nice looking white Hyundai i40 in the background btw.

The quality of the bodywork looks pretty good and it looks like it has gull wing doors. I lke the styling, would probably make a good basis for an electric car...if it isn't already that is!

Wonderful! Thanks Groaver.

A Chevy Aveo eh? Well the small donor car bit was right.
