The 1 litre engine in the Aygo/C1/107 is a Toyota engine. Toyota use pink anti-freeze (used in my last Corolla and Auris). Halfords do a ready mixed pink anti-freeze that I have used in the past as a top up (£11.99 for 2 litres).

What's the worse thing that can happen to you if you don't get it checked, lets think, death, disfigurement etc. etc.

Why ask the question on a forum when a fuel leak can be such a deadly serious issue....

Thanks Ben, I'll change the cam sensor and get the ECU update at the Ford dealer.

Do you think the Ford dealer will be able to read more than the P1200 fault code the other garage read? ...

1 have a 2001 e320, 145,000 miles. Always previously reliable, started getting problems starting, cranking and only going on the second cycle. My garage have changed: glow plugs, pre & main engine bay fuel pumps, all engine bay fuel lines & filter, fuel sensor, injector seals, starter motor, key fob batteries. Battery is good. Drove it home fine, now will not start again. At a loss - any ideas? Read more

" I don't see how a sticking EGR would cause a non-start "

Best talk to the AA & RAC then, we get plenty of non starts with EGR valves stuck wide open !...

Robin the Technician

Hi All,

A friend of mine came home from holiday last week to find the battery flat on her Corsa. Battery was removed, charged and returned and now car is fully functioning. However she tried the CD only to find it wouldn't work (didn't realise it would need re-coding). After fiddling with it for some time it went from -SAFE- to blank. you switch the unit on and it's like its dead. The display comes on with date etc but no reference to radio/CD. The fuses have been checked but it seems like its dead. She's now heard it will need a trip to the dealer for a 'special unlock' which sounds a load of tosh to me. Is it like the usual system where you need to leave the ignition on until it has counted down its security time or is there a magic sequence to re-activating it? She does have the code but didn't realise the battery removal would require it to be re-entered.... Read more

The cruise control has stopped working, although the dashboard shows up as on standby. That message lasts for a couple of seconds and goes off. This happens every time and thats as far as it gets. I checked the fuse and it appears to be unbroken. Have you any ideas ? To be honest it is hardly used but now with a bit of sciatica it would be useful on a long drive Thanks Read more

Hello

We recently became the owners of a peugeot 307, the day we got it, it had just been MOT'd, serviced and had a cambelt change.

Shortly after taking it home, we noticed the red oil pressure light was flashing on for a second or so with the STOP sign, when we were slowing down or turning corners. We took it back to the dealership whom said they were sure it was the oil pressure switch, as they could see oil coming out of it.

Had it there today, had a new switch put in, they said there was a fair amount of oil that was seeping out the old one. They said that the light may still come on for half hour or so while the oil works it way through.

Started driving it home, every time I came to a stop, the oil light came on with stop, and remained on, with the car beeping constantly. It did not do this before. In the 45 minutes I drove it back, it must of come on well over a hundred times, it was constant. driving me insane!

How long should I leave it and drive it to give the oil chance to get through the new switch before ringing the dealership back, and should it of got worse with a new switch? I dont want to be impatient.

Thanks Read more

If you bought it from a dealer, the advice here's probably TAKE IT BACK AND GET YOUR MONEY BACK.

Mr Fox

Seen a few of these on sale, and seem very low price for the type of vehicle. I'm thinking of changing our Renault Grand Scenic for an Espace, but heard so many horror stories about the engines going bang, the later 2.0 version may be a better engine, but aren't they all saddled with DPFs so impractical unless used mainly on Motorways ?

Is it best avoided altogether ?... Read more

Mr Fox

Well Gordon We already have a Grand Scenic, and we have a very good independant Renault Specialist who looks after this for us. and so far in 4 years we have only had one problem with the dashboard display, that Renault fixed quite cheaply as part of a goodwill program, So im not against Renaults Per Se.

I really would love to hear from anyone with the later 2.0 Engined Espace, to see if these are free of the horrendous problems that the 2.2 had....

really annoying the auto lights are very reluctant to turn off after i have gone under a bridge or like wise even with a clear blue sky! on the other hand they are reluctant to come on when its dull and raining making them feel useless is the sensor faulty or is this a problem with auto lights as my old mondeo,s auto lights were not much better, also is it possible to tighten the rear view mirror as it shakes when driving as speed Read more

TeeCee

they are reluctant to come on when its dull and raining

It may be dull and rainy to you, but there's still a lot of light coming down from the sky and that's what the sensor's looking at. Auto lights are very good at spotting when it's dark, but in daylight hours they often need to be overridden....
