I suppose it would be a common fault if you fit a new unit and it fixes the problem, because you are doing the same as a battery disconnect reset.hth
Hello after reading the previous posts, I have a similar problem with my 2001 galaxy 2.3...
I have a problem with the tailgate on my ford focus 1.6 Zetec opening, apparently on its own, when i'm driving! It has also started opening when I start the ignition and opens almost as soon as I close it again!
The offside passenger door also seems to have a mind of its own working intermittantly and usually stops working when it's deadlocked stopping me opening it altogether when it does and makes me wonder if the two problems are linked.... Read more
Can any tell me why this engine appears at several dealers but isn't listed on this website and doesn't feature in vw brochure 2009 when the cars seem to be that reg? . If you put it into google only the 1.4tsi 160 comes up.
What's the mpg? Etc , if anyone has one Read more
Just checked, there are no 2.0 TSis with 160bhp on the Austrian official VW used car website either, I would expect all the same cars to be available her as in Germany. Either it's a 1.4TSi with 160hp, or it's a 2.0 with a different power output.
I was getting excited about a new Volvo V40 then my mates said the parts and servicing costs caused them to get rid of their Volvos. Does any one know of a comparison of prices between manufacturers of top end hatch like the V 40?

I have a Volvo and a Merc...both quite high mileage and I have found the costs not too bad at all. I don't go near main dealers and the indies I use are pretty good at saying what the costs will be before they start. I found Volvo main dealers very expensive and the Merc ones even more so. To give Merc their due they do offer a good percentage off labour for older cars and the owners club membership gets 10% off parts and labour for anyage. I have friends with Fords and Audis who who getbigger bills than me.

I have been having a bad time with my CR-V. electronics.
In August the ACC went "off" and the car accelerated TWICE independantly. It happened once before when my son borrowed the car.... Read more
I assume you have checked the obvious and the driver floor mats are secure and not moving ?
Thanks for the suggestion that I assume is a serious one. It could account for an 'unrealised' acceleration I agree but this has happened now 3 times. The car has been to another main dealer who also cannot find any fault. BUT I am not surprised about that as it is an INTERMITTENT fault and has occurred 3 times in three years....
If your car is in the £0 RFL bracket any increse in fuel duty is going to upset you.
If your car is in the £30 a year RFL braket and you do 10,000 miles a year in a diesel doing 45 mpg you use 1000 litres a year approx. Any increase over 3p per litre is going to upset you....
Very efficient Ben.Good video.
