October 2012
We ordered a new Focus through an internet broker, having been told end Oct for delivery initially - the car had still to be built. A deposit of £500 was paid on credit card. As soon as the supplying dealer contacted us it became Nov 10th. A couple of weeks ago the dealer told me the date was now showing as Nov 3. Now they can't give me a date at all, although the car is in Ford's "quality control compound" in the UK somewhere (this has been the case for 10 days).
At the time of order we were not given any formal contact (just e-mail confirmation), and I've queried this a couple of times, and they say it's normal (well I've bought a few new cars over the years and it's anything but - you get a contact to sign immediately, with T&Cs set out.). The most I've been able to squeeze out of the dealer/broker combination (after pressing the point) is a definite price and that it's guaranteed.... Read more

Hello, new be hear hoping not to blow my redundany money!!
I am thinking about buying a 1.6 lx 06 petrol 54k (price agreed @ 2700) there are a couple of issuse raised when inspecting it. I am only wanting to drive this car around 15k per year.
1. The seller claims that he has had to replace an electrical component to the tune of 500quid @ 47k this was because the dials on the dash where being erractic and the lights on the dash were flashing on and off. What could this be should i be looking for future problems?
2. There is damage to the front wing passenger side, a 12" by 3" dent that has not a scratch or split paint. the hub cap is also missing from this wheel. should i be looking for damage behind the wheel ? How would i do this?
Thanks for your help.. Read more
The instrument cluster flashing problem is a known Focus issue. I believe Ford will fix it (or would fix it!) for a flat fee of £100.
As others have said, there are so many Focuses (Focii?!!) about I really wouldn't consider buying one which had any noticeable faults or visible damage! If that's what the parts are like that you can see, ask yourself what the parts are going to be like that you can't see, i.e. engine and gearbox internals....
i am thinking of buying a new smax .is the 1.6 diesei up to the job or should i go for the

I have a Mk1 S-Max with 2.0 TDCi 140bhp and a slushbox automatic. It goes more than well although of course more power is always welcome!
Best to compare the torque and power figures of the 1.6 and 2.0 in a new S-Max against the old one to see if the 1.6 is any good....
Does anyone know why I might struggle to turn left in my Ford Focus 2.0 TDCI DuraTorq?
Sometimes, not all the time, it's harder to turn left than right, and there's a weird noise like someone rustling paper when I turn the wheel left.
I've checked the fluid and it's topped right up, any ideas? Read more
I have no idea. Could be worth me getting it down the garage and having them check it over by the sounds of it.
cheers :)
Good evening
We are having the fascias and guttering replaced on ours and our neighbour's house. We have scaffolding up to do this and it has seemed quite pricey for what is being done.... Read more
Iwa08fm, The tiles look fine for typical clay or concrete tiles. The Lead looks fine too. Lead does not 'wear' out merely by having rainwater flow over it. My Lead flashings are over 80 years old and still servicable. If you have no water penetration in the area around the valley then do not replace them. The chances are they would remove the Lead and replace it wilth foil faced bitumen, which is inferior. The only problem seems to be where the sarking or the mortar pointing is protruding from the under the roof tiles. This may need re pointing, thats all. If you have not had any water penetration, especially during the recent severe rainfall, it points to the valley being sound and servicable. Leave well alone. Cheers Concrete
My Husband has just received a NIP the original offence was dated 22nd August 2012 he has a company hire car. He had not heard anything so thought he had gotten away with it until he recieved a phone call from his company. He confirmed that he was the driver at that time. Today he received a NIP from a third party who had forwarded it to him that is dated "15th October 2012".
He was doing 61 approaching a 40mph on a bend & the manual device camera was just around the bend.... Read more
Don't give up, yet. Has it been established whether the NIP was served on the leasing company (or whoever "own" the car) within 15 days?. If it wasn't there is no case to to answer!

Faulty charger and clock is working but no back light. Could these both be fuse issues and if so which fuses !?! I have no manual with the car and no idea whats what in the fuse box. Read more
According to the Haynes manual F23 is for the cigar lighter, its unlikely to be connected to the clock backlight, the chances are that the bulb has gone in that.
What do people think about the new Tyre labeling standards?
I talked to some guys in a Tyre shop and for them it is an additional hassle as they have to inform the customer of the ratings and supply additional advice and information if asked. Now I know purchasing tyres and discerning what is and isn't a good choice is a bit of a 'Black art' (sorry about the pun!) - so I initially felt that maybe the labeling is a good idea, and maybe it is - for the majority of Jo and Joanne Public who don't know any different - they can now purchase their tyres in the same way as they buy a Washing machine or a fridge as the labels are the same format.... Well maybe, in time, these ratings will be tightened up on - for now I think they are, at very best, a kind of general indication only and at worst totally useless and misleading.
The truth is most likely somewhere inbetween - nothing beats word of mouth and the testimony of peoples 1st hand experiences though
During the last few days we have become aware of our fuel pump. I am not sure if it has got louder or if it should be cutting out.
It runs momentarily prior to the engine starting but once started it appears to run continuously. Is this normal? It is most noticeable during idle.
The car appears to function OK but we are concerned about the the extra noise and if it is indicative of a serious problem.
What controls the pump if it is not intended to run continuously?
Which of the following are most likely to be the problem?
1 - the pump assembly
2 - a relay etc
3 - a filter
4 - other.

Hi,
Given that delayed delivery is your problem ,I wonder if ford uk customer services can provide a more definite answer than the supplying dealer . If you can get the cars vin number , ford uk should be able to give you the information
The problem lies with ford rather than the dealer .
The way that you bought the car suggests that you are involved in distance selling ,where different legislation applies ,so you could cancel the contract . You may also be able to recover your deposit from your credit card company because of the delayed delivery .its worth giving them a ring .
However ,your car is not that late ,is it worth all the hassle to cancel the contract ?
Initially I would pursue ford uk ,for a more definite delivery date .
