Hello all - perhaps a silly question but should I keep the locking wheel nut key thingy in the car or not?
There is also a peice of paper with a code that is obviously meant to be keep out of the car but with the key thing itself is seems a choice between;... Read more
Why is it that when I am backing out of a space in the supermarket and I am half way out, some idiot decides to squeeze past me, leaving me to slam on the brakes, or worse some pedestrian steps out into the path of my reversing car. This is true also if I decide to reverse into a space
Why is it that when I decided to park my car away from the store were there are lots of spaces (which I usually do) someone parks their car right next to mine.... Read more
I live in a cul de sac with a turning bell at end. Only logical approach to my drive is to go past and reverse in.
As it's also a quiet dead end road we also postively encourage kids to treat it as a play street. ...
My car was leaking water but i could not pin point the location as everything was dry including the floor. I was filling it before every journey. Had to change headlight bulb today after changing the bulb started the engine to check if everything is o.k. when all of sudden water started to flow from a small hole very close to the belt like a fountain and drained the tank in a couple of minutes. Refilled the tank but same thing happened. Had to drive for a few miles and the heat gauge went all the way close to red lines. There is a hole on the part that is attached to the engine. I am not sure what part it is. I can only think of water pump. Water is leaking on to the belt and engine generating steam. The leaked water is clean with out any trace of oil etc. What could have caused this problem and how can i fix it? Please help!! Read more
In July 2012 I bought a car from a car dealer in Mobberley, cheshire

This just proves what I have said for years on possibly this and definitely other forums, stamps in a service book are worth fek all. You need to see receipts as well.
Rubber stamps can be bought from a famous online auction site very cheaply by the unscrupulous, I agree that their value is worthless - but with modern PC/printer technology, it's not difficult to create fictitious invoices/receipts as well....
I am looking to buy a new LHD car in the UK for use both in the UK and the EU. So far only Watford Audi are willing to supply me a LHD car. Is this legal?
Thanks. Read more
I'm not sure that its illegal to refuse to supply a car of any description to a buyer ,other than on the basis of race or sex .
However why not buy the car in Europe ,it's unlikely that it would be more expensive than in the uk and because its in the EEC ,no additional duties are payable in the uk other than the uk registration fee.
If you're determined to buy lhd in the uk I would try the export and tax free departments of the manufacturers uk offices, rather than dealers .All manufacturers are have a department that deals with tax free sales to NATO ,diplomat personel etc .
Although your enquiry isn't specifically for tax free ,I'm sure that they would be able to help with lhd sales .

I'm looking for a second-hand MPV for two small but long-distance house moves, from near London to Italy and the north of Scotland. The loads will be mostly suitcases with one or two small pieces of furniture.
Priorities are reliability, low fuel consumption, space in the back (I miss my old Toyota Previa for that) and resale value (probably won't be keeping the car after these trips)... Read more

Hi
I like many people am having problems trying to sort out what is wrong with the clutch on my Citreon Synergie 2.0 TD. It is an hydraulic sysyem and I have changed the clutch, the fly wheel and this week, the slave cylinder. After each job the clutch seems fine for a couple of miles and then starts to vibrate and then the clutch pedal drops to the floor and sticks there.. .. I have now oredered a new master cylinder to try this, as I am running out of ideas.. Can you please help... Read more
Thanks for your help.. it seems to be hydraulic. just cant seem to find out what though ..
I am soon to change the flywheel on m 307 and upon reading the manual, it says that I will need to center the flywheel (dual mass) on the crankshaft using two Peugeot special tools (that I can't obtain). Apparently these are screwed into two opposing holes, tightened up and being tapered they centralise. Next the flywheel is fitted and tightened then these two tools are removed allowing the last two bolts to be fitted.

Thanks for any replies but it turned out that it didn't have a dual mass flywheel fitted and acording to peugeot shouldn't have one. Happy days as just a clutch change. b***** of a job though on the drive with four jacks and two axle stands. Replacing thrust bearing is a fiddly job as well, getting the two clips to line up with the lever.
My Jaguar S Type has developed a misfire; it appeared shortly after replacing the Radiator although this may not be related.
The misfire only appears after the engine is up to temperature all seems ok up to this point. Once at temperature any acceleration is accompanied by a misfire up to approx. 4,500 rpm after which it appears to go away. There is no engine warning light or any error codes logged in the ECU. Although it will continue to accelerate performance is retarded. Tick over at temperature is slightly lumpy.... Read more
Misfire after warm up does sound suspiciously like coil packs. The resistivity of the insulation decreases with temperature allowing a short to occur. The voltage required to bridge the gap depends on cylinder pressures, so at low throttle positions or higher engine speed when the spark is very advanced it will often discharge normally, but short when the spark timing is retarded.
IIRC, Ford had a penchant for very large spark plug gaps around 2000-around 1.3-1.4mm. This caused a lot of premature coil pack failures. I'd tap the gaps down to 0.9-1.0mm and see if that ameliorates the problem before splashing out on replacements....
Hi everyone
Can't see this anywhere but does anyone know when I should change cam belt and the gubbins on a Citroen xsara Picasso, is a 55 plate, 1.6i 16v petrol, has done just over 50k on the clock.
What would you expect to pay for this kind of job?
Thanks Read more
It's a 10 year old car. Time and mileage based changes have long since ceased to apply. Use common sense, and change it if it hasn't been done for a while. I used to change mine on an old Astra I had every two years, whether I thought it needed it or not.

I always put the locking wheel nut in its little plastic bag, in the 'bin' next to the fag lighter. Can't see it, never forget where it is.
