"Did you enter the drop-off zone: goo.gl/maps/xTFwE and pay rhe quid to exit?"
Difficult to imagine how he'd have got out without paying, as the exit is barrier-controlled! On the other hand, he might have outstayed the time allowed (ten minutes, the last occasion I was there)....
I had a new clutch and a recon gearbox in Aug.Since last saturday the 2rd gear does stop in and goes straight into neutral.1st gear a terrible noise comes from the gear box and is so loud the whole street can hear it.The garage reckons its the plastic box that holds the gearstick need replacing or the manslefold at the front of the car needs replacing. Its getting to the point when i struggle to use the gears, now the reverse is struggling to be used.:( Read more
Is the clutch "dragging"?
Are the engine mounts intact? If something was left loose when the clutch/gearbox was changed it will eventually put pressure on the gear linkages. I had this happen on a Polo a few years ago when the rear engine mount worked loose after a clutch change. Worth a peek.

My Saxo has started to give problems when trying to engage either first gear or reverse, when actually getting it into gear there is a lot of crunghing and grinding of the gears, all geselection is becoming difficult but first and reverse are the worst.?
Yesterday the car seemed to keep accelerating despite my braking this was a bit of a worry as I was joing the M25 at the time. I eventually managed to get the car into fifth and then it seemed okay, except engaging all gears was very stiff.... Read more
I have a saxo west coast and i have the same trouble, but mine is first and second gears. and also have the same thing with the car speeding up when in traffic jams . you just touch the throttle so your traving in say second gear, release the throttle and all of a sudden the rev counter goes up to 2000rpm the car shoots forward, so i dip the clutch dab the throttle and it goes back to normal, though some times it will go up and down from 700 rpm to 2000 rpm and seem as though its going to cut out then is ok again. rather dangerous really, garage could find nothing wrong.
Hi can anyone advise i have just purchased a used vw touran on thursday when i first drove it it seemed fine but now i have noticed that the gear change between gears is "sticky" especially 1st and 2nd.
The clutch seems fine i.e the biting point is low if this is a indicator... Read more
Have been looking for a 1 -2 year old Ford Focus for a few weeks, just discovered "Hertz rent2buy program" which was newly launched in the UK, it sounds a really good way to buy a ex rental car, anyone has experience with them ? Read more
I dont know about lately, but when I have looked at Hertz and Avis directly in the past, they have been more expensive than buying from Trade Sales or Ford Direct, maybe this has changed ?
Everywhere I've been this week the road has been full of morons. Mostly cyclists but we'll get onto those in a minute. First I want to mention the half-evolved troglodyte plebian who managed to crash on the slip road on my way to work on Tuesday and the Vauxhall driving nitwit numpty who crashed on Wednesday. Don't you realise I have places to go?
Now, cyclists. It's that time of year again, cyclists surprised by dark mornings or fading light in late afternoon who don't have ANY LIGHTS ON!!! Everybody likes to paint a lovely picture of cyclists but the reality is most of them are drunk students riding along with a bag of doritos wedged in their gob while chatting to their oompa loompa-esque baby producing, benefit claiming slags on bookface. Weaving around like neanderthalic rectal tubes, all too aware of the legal implications for me should I flatten them like a card under a steamroller.... Read more
Ok, few things
1) Let's not get into the whole cyclist-road-tax nonsense or the whole Churchill-1930s line the cycling lobby always pull out. Let's boil it down; just because they changed the name of the tax and wasted the proceeds on rubbish rather than roads doesn't change what it is - road tax. End of. Let's not waste internet bytes on it again....
Should definitely be repaired under warranty or SOGA. Don't let your garage tell you otherwise!
I doubt if anyone would repair a gearbox these days; you're probably talking about a reconditioned or new one....

Try your local independant locksmith - Timpsons may be able to help - they certainly put one of my colleagues onto a man who can!!
