Both my remotes fail to operate the central locking. The locks work with the manual key fine and the alarm arms. It is as if the program has been erased ? I tried to resynch as per the manual but it didn't work. I have seen many methods on line but am loath to try in case it makes it worse.

Does anyone know how to reprog or resynch with out going to a dealer ? Both batteries appear healthy.... Read more

Is it safe to control a car by using the speed adjust button on cruise rather than the accelerator? I'd say "no" but I am told "yes", how can this be so, especially in heavy traffic? Read more

Its OK to adjust your cruising speed up and down on CC, but like the others i don't like CC when in close proximity to other traffic likely to vary their speed, prefer keeping distance etc in the normal way where all senses are alert.

When having a vehicle tested recently, I observed that the tester had a print giving vehicle specific check points.

Such a list would be of great value when evaluating a used car and yet I cannot find it anywhere on the VOSA website. As we have all paid for the information given on this database, it should be readily available to all.... Read more

In mid July 2012 I paid a deposit and ordered a new Hyundai i20 1.1 Diesel Blue Drive. Estimated delivery was September 2012. This was revised to 29 Sept. This was then extended to October, and again to November!

Yesterday I was advised by the dealer that my car would be deliverered to them in July 2013 ... Read more

Have you asked whether it is just the Blue version that is affected or is it all 1.1CRD's? The 1.1 Classic is the same list price as the Blue - does without the stop/start, same VED, and comes with air con.

Cannot imagine that Hyundai will sell many Blue versions, and this may be the issue.

Checking the model range for the Merc C class, I see the C180 is actually a turbo-charged 1590 cc engine, while for near enough the same cost, the 2.2 diesel is available. Petrol offers better accelaration to 60, but lower torque and 20% worse MPG. Similar issues arise in most of the major marques it seems.

Would such a relatively small petrol engine suffer under estate car loads, or go wrong less often? I think I'm right that servicing for the petrol should be lower and less frequent, but are there other issues to take into account. I assume that the petrol engine would be quieter in almost all driving conditions?... Read more

Depends on your annual mileage. Getting big horsepower numbers out of a petrol is easy-but , efficiency wise, they're not a patch on diesel.
